Question about Canadian car fender tags and Importing - 1969 monaco

For what it's worth, I just bolted a 318 into the unmodified frame of my 71 Polara, originally a 383 car. Used a smallblock 727, the original driveshaft, a pair of motor mounts from a 67 Coronet 318, driver's manifold from a 96 Van 360 magnum, passenger manifold from a 95 Cherokee 360 mag, and a 72 C-body radiator from a smallblock A/C car.

Yes it's a 360. Over on that blues brothers forum that every here is so disappointed in they found there actually are slight differences in the big block and small block sub frame. And there's a derby guy who says that you can drop a small block into a big block frame, but it's difficult and offsets the transmission. So it'll fit, but it causes severe binding on the mounts, which is the assumption and questioning coming into play about a big block into a small block swap...
Here's a link to the thread with an excessive discussion about the frames, if anyone wants to venture over to the dark side"

That's interesting, things may not always be as easy as they seem.

You're never too old to learn.

I'd drop a built SB stroker before going through the hassles of modifying the frame for a BB swap.
Now who wasnt thinking? No change needed for the frame, it bolts right in. A radiator, transmission, drive shaft, and manifolds from a donor is all you need
NO. NO. NO. We've discussed this before.......
no............................
Fine......
It bolts right in then.
prove me wrong
I can never do that with you. I don't feel like trying to play soccer with a bowling ball.
You're gonna end up with a rainbow tattoo at the rate you're going.
Thats because I dont argue unless I know I'm correct

Eat me....:poke:

That is the Blues brothers forum? I dont doubt the differences on a 74. I know minimal about 74's and up and 68's and down. I can tell you that you can eat me back......your wrong! I feel like I am talking to Gary, I've done it, have you?

You are one up on me there. I'll be truthfull. No I haven't.
Let's call this one: Very doable with perhaps some issues in 74 and up cars according to a few people.

Thanks Bob! Sorry for the delay, been slacking on the computer alot lately. Yea steve called me the day after you picked up the wheels.

He kinda kills me sometimes..... He is a great guy, but always gets me at the wrong times! As I said $$ is tight at the moment (hence I put you onto the wheels). He then calls me and tells me about all these parts he has for sale. Granted I'd love to get them.. But no $$=I can't buy any parts lol. Plus he is 1500 miles away.

He also has some monaco quarter panels on ebay I really want to get.. Uhhhggggg. haha

He always has some GREAT 74-77 monaco parts around. I left with a truck full last time I visited him.

Did you happen to see his bluesmobile he is making by chance?

The big block steve has is a 400. I believe I have my 440, just need to go get it thanks to another board member. I'll let you know what happens when it does. Also I'm gonna try to just get the motor mounts from shumaker. Don't really feel like pulling my subframe out.

Thanks again Bob!
