When I was young and impressionable I found myself registered in a graduate level course, Advanced Numerical Analysis and Statistics" Besides solving strings of polynomials to predict the path a drunk takes when crawling out of a bar, we used statistics to prove any point you wanted to sell. About all I came away with, drunks are drunks and waddle like ducks 99% of the time 19 times out of 20 on sunny days.

Seriously, statistics are meaningless unless you know all the details of how the samples were defined. In the news couple days ago was a statistical presentation showing which cities and towns had the highest crime rates. Surprise, small towns were the worst, the crime rates were so high a traveller would be crazy to even drive through nevermind stay overnight. Well the stats were based upon population, so a town of 1,000 people with one crime compared to a town of 100 people with one crime, says the little town's crime rate is 10 times greater per capita.

Spare me your crap, please! You lighten up. My reply is based on facts which all of you here fail to realize. You need to put 100% effort and 100% of your undivided attention when operating a motor vehicle. No if's, and's, or but's about it! I'm not reading anything here about how many of those accidents where caused by distracted driving, why is that?

Since you called out my hometown, we are talking about doing 80 on a two lane road based on Bob's first post. Unless Bob thinks he is supposed to be doing 55-60 on an interstate which I don't think is correct based on the 2 lane references. Why would you be worried about looking down and find that you are doing 80 on the Interstate? I agree with anyone that 80 is an average speed on the Interstate, even down here in Nesbit. Most Troopers in this area don't even pay attention to cars doing 80 on the Interstate. Yes we have Interstates down here, and just got running water last year.

My cousin drives all over the country with his flooring business and gets tickets often. He bought one of these Escort 360 radar detector and hasn't had another ticket since. He said it works with laser radar guns too. I know we have some people that are truck drivers here or drive cross country a lot.

And you NEVER said you were on the expressway either. You just said that there's a lot of 2 lane roads which makes us think/imply your on a 2 lane road thinkin your doin 55-60 and look down and see 80! Get over it and pay attention to your speed!!!

4 people total involved died.
25% were male DRIVERS.
25% were female DRIVERS
The remaining 50% are PASSENGERS.
The stats quoted were dealing with DRIVERS involved in fatal crashes taken from the total of fatalities of all involved in the crash.
Now, could they have just given us the driver stats, leaving the others out of the equation? I guess so, and I don’t know why they didn’t. Nothing wrong with the numbers though.

Leave Stubbs alone... I've come to enjoy his, often unexpected, interjections...

He reminds me of that uncle who gave mom cause to lock the liquor cabinet before family gatherings, and was only allowed to say grace once.
