Rare footage of one of the two 72 (later updated to look like 73s) Imperial Limos that were used by the US government.

Gorgeous car. Sadly both were destroyed after they left government service to preserve the armour secrets used to protect the POTUS.

Very nice looking , Too bad their gone! That was the last Imperial used by the government? Thanks again!

Very nice!

It doesn't appear to be a lot of armor in that Imperial. I know it's 45 years ago.
I do a lot of testing on armored civilian vehicles for the U.S. Special Forces and there's no way that he would be able to back hand close an armored door with one hand. Also when the Reagan's get back in the Imp, the driver or Secret Service dude slams the door shut. Armored doors don't sound tinny like that....they thump when closed similar to the way MRAP vehicles or FRAG 6 HUMMWV doors sound when they close.

I would really of liked an opportunity to exploit the armor and ballistic glass used in that Imp......

It was "state of the art" for the time
Just Sayin!

Those gorgeous Imps should have kept alive in the museum instead of destroying them... Shame.

Amazing to use such "outdated" cars at the time for the president.

Is it just me or did that Imperial look big enough, mean enough, and tough enough that if it were still in use today, America's enemies would take one look at it, get the heck scared out of them, and scatter back to where they came from?

Looks like they were used for a few years. This footage looks like it's from '78-'79? based on some of the LTD police cars. What a machine though!
