Restoration of the Butch Leal B/MP Hemi Duster

First time that I've seen this thread. Awesome job. What are the ultimate plans for the car? Is it gong to do any nostalgic racing?

It will however be a fully operational and museum worthy reference to what it once was in 1975.
That means it will have to be started from time to time, keep it's juices flowing!

Do you plan on displaying it in a public place?

It will be started and run if only to hear the 572 Hemi through open headers!
It will be shown at a lot of major car show venues. Mopar Nat's, Carlisle, Henderson, NC etc.
It would be cool to see it up here in Minnesota at Mopars in the Park in the racers building, lots of good nostalgic iron on display. I realize that might be a bit far, but sure would be cool.

New California Flash resto pictures.

Plumbing to the dual Wilwood / Girling small brake master cylinders connected to the VW reservoir on the firewall as was originally built at Ron Butler's.

Brand new (N.O.S.) Accel 16 plug distributors (shown on our dummy block; coils were included). Thanks for finding it, Steve Atwell!

California Flash departs HDK!

The Butch Leal California Flash B/MP Hemi Duster left the HDK suspension facility Thursday and is headed out for finish paint and graphics. The processes will begin next week.

When it comes back, the entire body with race-day graphics will be ready to receive the engine which should be ready about then.

After that, the many sub assemblies will be installed: glass, dash, seats & upholstery, crank trigger ignition, modified fuel tank, differential, ladder bars and wheelie bars etc. etc. etc. Most of these items have all been pre-fitted and await their final installation.

bea-u-ti-ful man , i'm shocked that that hood lift t bars remain . thought it was a lift off . was it part of the rules ?
NHRA Modified Production rules in 1975 mandated a complete stock steel body.
The only fiberglass part on the entire car was the hood scoop itself.
