Restoring paint

I’m pretty proud of the results!

You should be. That came out nice.

A good detail spray will help you maintain and increase the shine and cut down the amount you need to wash it. I really like the Beadmaker product I mentioned earlier as it gives a fantastic shine with some "slickness" that nothing (read dirt) sticks to. That's a personal choice though and there are many good products out there.

I don't know as this is the best video, but it does cover the product.

Very nice work. Oddly, I worked on my car today and I tried a trick I saw on AutoGeek using Meguiars No. 7 Showcar glaze.

Before I get started, same as always I do not benefit for mentioning any specific products, I just want to put the info out there in case it helps someone else.

Here is a link that explains how to use the Meguiars #7 Showcar glaze with some sample before and after pics. Link: Newbie single stage paint restoration
I did the same thing today to a fender and door and it definitely helps. The main detail is you really need to put it on really heavy! Then, you want to leave it on for a good while. I believe the video may mention leaving it on for 24 hours inside your garage.
The reason for leaving it on is for the oils in the glaze to literally soak into the paint. You will go through a lot of product so be ready.
If you do have single stage paint though it his definitely worth trying and remember to slop that stuff on wet and heavy! Also, have plenty of towels.

You can find several articles online that mention using the Meguiar's #7 Showcar glaze using this method. I hope this may help someone bring there paint back.

YEP - Meguiar's#7. Use a heavy application of it, despite what the bottle says. Leave it on overnight, then use "waterless wash" or detailing spray to remove it. I went through several towels/cloths, but it really conditioned the paint. After doing this, the Carnuba wax gave it a better finish.

I stick with anything Meguiar’s.
I just purchased a new orbital polisher from Chemical guys complete with 3 foam pads and 4 different compounds. Machine and pads are great but their compounds are crap as far as I’m concerned. They were hard to buff out and the final polish just doesn’t shine. I resorted to my old 9” buffer with a terrycloth bonnet and Mequires #6 Cleaner, Polish & Wax for the final touch. Cleaned all the left over compound and left a nice glossy finish on my 35 year old Macco paint job. Amazing! (I hadn’t done anything but wash the Monaco since I cut & buffed the horizontal surfaces a couple years ago)
Worked so well I moved on to my daily driver. I never have really polished this car and it had very fine spider web scratches in the c.c. since I bought it. Applied the #6 with the variable speed orbital polisher then a final buff-out with the larger pad buffer. Man, that bright “Alpine White” just jumps in the sunlight now. All the fine line came out with just the #6 cleaner compound.
FWIW:
Meguiars stuff just seems cleaner and easier to work with in addition to actually working.
And I still prefer the old larger wool or terry bonnets on my old Craftsman buffer for final polish.

Great results on that beautiful Plymouth! You'll get some raised eyebrows when you tell folks it the original paint.
