I am trying to do more work on the 73 Plymouth Fury as it is sitting waiting on its carburetor to come back.

The air conditioning and heater need work so I am getting it going. The compressor would only turn 3/4 of the way, then it would stop and could be rotated backwards to the same spot.

Removing the compressor and pulling the oil pan, I found carnage. I am determined not to let this compressor die.

Some sand blasting, a trip through the parts washer and fresh paint and it looks great.

I will be getting the shavings cleaned out and getting it ready to make ice cold air.

The connecting rods and crank were damaged but I think the crank will clean up, and new pistons will get it running.

Gaskets are on the way.

mine did that too..got a new crank from Marty Mopar for 25 bucks...Arizonaparts...looks like he still has 3 in stock...

I am waiting on the manifold seals and I will likely be disassembling the donor compressor this weekend. I will be getting the pistons and rods out of it.

Nice! I hope you got your AC system running soon
I have a RV2 compressor from 1969. It needs a charge. Some R12 are left but not enough. Comprerssor turns, mabye to easy, Im not sure.

Where you find gasket set. All I lost was front bearing

I originally got gasket kits from Polar Bear Inc in Florida...800 365 3516....then after I needed additional hard parts (crank and pistons) those came with gasket sets too and wound up using a mix of the sets...mine used the large front bearing (not the 205 that everyone sells, thats for the smaller compressor)...found bearing, pistons and oil pump at AMS obsolete , crank at Marty Mopar in Arizona...the new Auto Zone Santech front seal leaked and wound up using Marty's nos one....Brad's NOS had some of this stuff too at higher prices...but nobody seems to have a large supply of any of this stuff these guys might be out of stock by now too....Classic air(Original Air Group) used to sell the kits but I think they're hoarding them for their in house rebuilds...the green 021 O-ring for the flange on the pressure side was a 10 pack off Amazon...
