I've got a 68 plymouth fury done a 318 to 360 swap now trying to swap from a rv2 a/c compressor to a sanden type. What compressor and brackets is everyone using to do this? Didnt notice how most aftermarket intake manifolds will not work with orignal chryslers compressor with the heater hose coming from the front of the motor. I already put a aftermarket intake manifold on the 360. Can't find anything UPDATED on the subject lot of the old forms links don't work anymore. Any pictures or help would be appreciated of any belt orientations for these small blocks with a/c the 360 didn't have any pulleys when I got it and none of the pulleys off the 318 line up with the 360 because of the iron to aluminum water pump. I also have edlbrock heads so it offsets the alternator.

My 1980 Newport 360 2bbl has a factory rotary Denso compressor. For that compressor to mount, the thermostat housing is rotated a bit for clearance. Look at the front of a Performer 360 intake and you'll see the dual mounting bolt holes for the t/stat housing. The Denso compressor is the reason for that, as far as I can tell.

That compressor cools great. So such a car could be your template, if you can find one in a salvage yard, or a later model non-RV2 factory a/c car.

Most everybody uses the Sanden SD-5, but there is also a 7-cyl SD-7 model with more displacement. Not sure about physical dimensions of the case, though.

Enjoy!

I used parts from these guys: Products: Air Conditioning - Bouchillon Performance Engineering

I suggest calling for the best info and advice.

Vintage Air sells a nice bracket kit that doesn't require a shorty compressor and the standard intake thermostat position.
