Slabby convertible question

My quiet times are also very loud and I see a hearing aid in my future. Do you play in a band, Doug?

I guess we all have some hearing issues, Mine were from dealing with pneumatic tools "inside". Now my ears ring all the time, I almost know no peace.

I live with a constant "ringing' in my ears. In 1968 I was on radio duty inside of a APC in a OP near AnLoc Vietnam when a mortor round landed and exploded on top of it. I was nearly deaf for two weeks after that and have lived with the Tinnitus since then.

It's hard to really say but it doesn't seem to impare my hearing ability much. A louder then OEM muffler in a convertible will set up a resonance at certain RPM ranges, (usually cruising speed), that is very annoying. When I first had the duals installed on my 65 Coronet convertible I hated them and had to change the mufflers to quitter ones right away.

Well I have come to as least one conclusion most of us are old farts with hearing issues.:).

I did see a comment of an insulated top. I have a brand new top but I don't remember seeing an insulated top as an option. Are they out there? Who makes them?

I have over the years. Just some weekend stuff. I was always next to the drummer and the cymbals will play hell with your top end frequencies. I'm doing mostly acoustic stuff now. It's a little easier on the ears and body. Plus, there isn't near as much equipment to haul.

Too many concerts, too many open headers, too much music cranked in the car. Wouldn't change a thing.

YIKES!

The top I put on Jazebelle was double thickness, which I think is normal.
Some of the high end cars and some European convertibles came with padding and liners which would quiet things a little.

I was pleasantly surprised how quiet my Polara is with the top down. I don't notice too much increase in sound with the top up...

Same here for last 5 years. Doc says its tinnitus and I will live with it to the end...

The doc's tried to tell me I have this as well but I found it was my neck and jaw causing the ringing in my ears.

If it gets real bad I head off the chiropractors!
Couple of quick snaps of the neck & I'm back in business!
