Smallblock headers

About 25 years ago I helped a buddy put headers on a 318 on a 65 Fury and I think we used b body headers. I do remember they were cheap headman headers.

71polara383 got these for the Servprolara.

I thought my grinder was going to be plenty to cut the exhaust underneath but i gotta run and get a sawzall...sigh.

I thought I updated this. I paid roughly $100 bucks for those, on the passenger side the collector wasn't welded correctly and the header leaked between the pipes. Contacted the seller, got a FULL refund and could keep the headers. I tried fixing it but that didnt work so I ordered another set (from a different seller) that were even 10 bucks cheaper than the refund. They now seem to work fine and really have opened up the engines performance! The cast manifolds in comparison made the car feel sluggish almost. Well now I have a drivers side replacement should that one crap out...

Based on these 2 video's, I'm not convinced that headers are worth the hype for small or big block.

The 383 lost 18 hp and 18 ftlbs with the factory manifolds vs headers (both maxed at practically the same RPM).

Practically the same results on the 340. 16 less HP and 20 less ft lbs with the factory manifolds.

In both cases with manifolds or headers Nick was getting 1 HP per CID.

I did some custom downpipes and connected them to the existing exhaust. Grabbed a 100$ kit with straights and bends and pieced it together.
