I have a stroker on the stand in my garage. I want to leak test the motor once I get the top end put together, mostly to make sure the rear main doesn't leak before it goes in the car. Has anyone done this? I'm going to make my own smoker,I have a small pump for inflatable rafts, any suggestions of how to build or use for crank case specific use would be great.

Never done it before but those rear mains are a *****. I heard that clocking the seal prevents them from leaking.

I did clock it about an 1/8th inch, and RTVd in front of the seal retainer.
I used Viton seals and side strips from 440 source. I can put light behind the seal and see none shine through. I took a lot of time, I think I have it right.

Clocking it works well, I never use the side strips from anybody I make sure it is very clean/dry put a bead down each side slide it in place tighten and using the nozzle on the rtv ultra black or Mopar black rtv I squeeze a bead in up the side flush with the back of the block. Make sure it pushes in there. The smoke test sounds like a decent idea.
