Snowbound Desoto

Welcome to the "Forward Look" Ben. You have your work cut out, it seems. But it's a 57 Desoto H/T. Good luck with it.
I'm still picking at my 61 Fury. Talked with my new trimmer about seat vinal material today. SMS is pretty proud of what they offer, a little searching and we found a near exact match of the material, for a whole lot less money.
Aww come on Will, tell us where you found cheaper materials... I just bought 6yrds Of headliner and vinyl top from SMS. You’re right! Ain’t cheap.. help a brother out..

Not that hard John.
I stopped by the trimmer who reupholstered my Polara seats with a sample I got from sms.
we started digging through his supplier sample books and came up with a near perfect match in color and grain. Just about every supplier is cheaper than sms. Just have to look a little.

It doesn't help when the shop you go to tells you to call SMS and do all the work finding the correct material yourself. The guy is three minutes away from me, and promptly lost my business after those words came out of his mouth.

Again...... Your wisdom and judgement amazes me Stan.

Unless your OCD won't tolerate anything other than genyouwhine Mopar correct materials and patterns for your 4 door Fury 1 that will never see Pebble Beach or Amelia Island, there are lots of materials, vinyls in particular that look much better than OEM . A 66 300 bucket in a factory pattern but in Ultrahyde instead of SMS pearl will get that real leather look and feel for much less dinero. A Fury 1 with a tuck and roll done in the same material will get a big bang for the buck improvement for a similar price as plain vanilla.

Welp good news is, had it ready to pull in 4hrs, but the trans still wont separate from the bell..Not sure why, so back at it today. I believe it's a 315 power giant, will have to check the numbers once its pulled. Grabbed the belts and it still spins, freely, has oil . With the way old machines are at this farm, I'm hoping itll fire.

The Forward Look 4dr hardtops have one of the sexiest rooflines...
Congrats on saving her!
I wonder of you can swap Hemi heads on the 325?
Equally as interesting is the Corvair van next to her.

The van is going to texas to be converted into a ramp side. He said it was a coin toss between the corvair and the desoto.

I believe so, pics of yours would be great

If that is the Dodge 325 (pretty sure it is, as they were used in the small Desotos), then 325 Hemi heads should fit right on that block.
I have a 57 Dodge D500 with the 325/Hem-head engine that I have to do something with one of these days. Probably a project that will be sold to concentrate on some other cars I already have...
Too many projects, too little time....

Nice, what engine did yours have?

It was a Fireflite, so it had the 341 Hemi. Very well optioned car with factory A/C and power windows. Sadly it was so, so rotted that there was no way to bring it back. At one point in time I opened too many doors at one time, causing the body to bend in the middle and then the doors wouldn't shut anymore. That's how bad it was.

With it rotted so bad, what became of it?

I removed everything that was worth saving and junked the rest. That was about 20 years ago. I used to have a website for selling parts and I sold a bunch of stuff off it to a restoration shop that was working on a '57. They bought the hood from me, which was a major project to crate up and ship. The funny part is that it went out west to the land of rust free parts and vintage car junkyards, but the guy told me that no one else had one for sale at the time. I remember selling the bumpers at Carlisle around '03 or '04.

Got a Les Fairbanks drum puller in and got the frozen front drums off, what a mess. Bent many internal parts during the pull. Debating on picking up aaj front disc setup. On another note the 315 hemi is tucked away, and all of the rest of the green truck has been sold off except the remote booster. The frame and cab now reside in Colorado.
