Old Man with a Hat
There's a Hispanic community coming in and filling the vacuum left as the old Timers bow out.a little searching and we found a near exact match of the material, for a whole lot less money.

Aww come on Will, tell us where you found cheaper materials... I just bought 6yrds Of headliner and vinyl top from SMS. You’re right! Ain’t cheap.. help a brother out..Welcome to the "Forward Look" Ben. You have your work cut out, it seems. But it's a 57 Desoto H/T. Good luck with it.
I'm still picking at my 61 Fury. Talked with my new trimmer about seat vinal material today. SMS is pretty proud of what they offer, a little searching and we found a near exact match of the material, for a whole lot less money.

It doesn't help when the shop you go to tells you to call SMS and do all the work finding the correct material yourself. The guy is three minutes away from me, and promptly lost my business after those words came out of his mouth. Not that hard John.
I stopped by the trimmer who reupholstered my Polara seats with a sample I got from sms.
we started digging through his supplier sample books and came up with a near perfect match in color and grain. Just about every supplier is cheaper than sms. Just have to look a little.
They speak Spanish and have a ton of tattoos. That's all I know. I don't ask anybody showing tats of bloody spears piercing a crying Jesus for their Green Card.Cuban's???

Great find!
It's amazingly close in color and patina to the '57 that I had years ago. Looks like yours is much better structurally than mine was.
Keep us posted on future progress.

The Forward Look 4dr hardtops have one of the sexiest rooflines...
Congrats on saving her!
I wonder of you can swap Hemi heads on the 325?
Equally as interesting is the Corvair van next to her.
Indeed a great find! '57 Desotos are my favorite. Love the finned Mopars! I have a light green Firesweep w/dark green spear 4 dr sedan from Montana that I hope to enjoy driving one day!

I believe so, pics of yours would be great
If that is the Dodge 325 (pretty sure it is, as they were used in the small Desotos), then 325 Hemi heads should fit right on that block.
I have a 57 Dodge D500 with the 325/Hem-head engine that I have to do something with one of these days. Probably a project that will be sold to concentrate on some other cars I already have...
Too many projects, too little time....
Nice, what engine did yours have?
It was a Fireflite, so it had the 341 Hemi. Very well optioned car with factory A/C and power windows. Sadly it was so, so rotted that there was no way to bring it back. At one point in time I opened too many doors at one time, causing the body to bend in the middle and then the doors wouldn't shut anymore. That's how bad it was.
Jeff
With it rotted so bad, what became of it?
