Some honest opinions.... Hahaha this should be good

Oh I like the wheels, I'm a custom wheel guy, but not on your car. Another ride or even color they'd be great.

Hmmm I never thought about color. There was actually a method to my madness... the chrome to complement the trim of the car, and the sharp lines of the wheels to go with the sharp lines of the car. Oh well, someone will like them lol

So I am getting real close to the completion of the '68 Polara, and upon it's completion I would like to find her a new home. This is where the honest opinion part comes into play. From reading a lot of threads, I can see that most of you have been in the C Body/ Mopar game for a while. Now if ya'll could imagine you built this car, or saw this car for sale, what would be a fair selling price?
Here is a mostly complete list of the work done.

Thanks all!!

I'm going to pass on guessing at a value, but make two observations on your pictures. First if you assembled the headers without removing the paint from the mating faces on the heads, you're going to have exhaust leaks much sooner than later. Paint makes a terrible sealing surface. Second, nice job on the exhaust system, but if you don't lengthen those shorty tail pipes, you're soon going to have no rocker panels in front of the rear wheels.

Thanks for the observations.
Yes, around the exhaust ports were cleaned before the gaskets and manifolds installed. I haven't finished the exhaust tips yet, I still don't know exactly what I want to do with those.

I think it's worth whatever the underlying condition of the car on that year, make, model is worth, unless you have done some supercustom fabrication (like a full-on hot rod). You get no money back for mods. If your mods make the car into something that is worse condition.... oh well.

Hagerty's says somewhere between $8k and $15k for a #3 to #2 car.

People here tend to say that they over-value cars. You would have to be really honest with yourself about how it matches up to the details of the descriptions there. And, to realize the full asking price, you would have to sell it like a dealer: super clean, detailed, show it well, and wait for the right buyer.

like the car..nice detail in engine compartment...first thing l do when buying a vehicle is look at frame..frame always gives me good indicator of car...not a fan of wheels but that's a personal thing so my opinion means squat..can see them appealing to a 20s -30s crowd..wont comment on price but someone out there wants that car.....

I do not like the wheels and if you have the originals I would rather put those on as most people wouldn't want the other wheels in my opinion.

The seats are not original anymore.
I would say in the ballpark of 6k.

Here is a 68 Polara 500 for sale in california, 383 HP car in comparison, it has buckets and console and a great colour for 6.300$ just to get an idear.

That is a nice original car, I love the buckets and console!!

I like the car,but price also dictates the area that you live in.While advertising on the internet gives you a broader list of potential buyers,it all goes by what someone is willing to pay in the long run.Speaking for myself,I prefer to buy solid unrestored originals and build them the way I like them, not start off with someone elses ideas and have to tear everything out and start all over.

That car is a 3, 3- to me. Nice car. Nicer than mine. But he wants at the top end of the range. You gotta wash it if you want to get that kind of money.

Me thinks judging by what he's done so far he's upside down. I'm gunna say by about 5K. Just a guess. And since I'm in a better mood today, and not on my phone after putting out fire in the garage, the wheels are fine, they can be changed. I think the thing that gets me is the sidewall of the tire. They need more to fill the wheel well better. Other than that it looks like a decent ride. And the engine detail is great. I hope to get to that level someday.

Pfffffffttttttttt.
That's a given on every C-body.
The first thing that should be said to anyone is:

You DO know you're upside on that car regardless of what you say or think...
If he says "absolutely", then be kind to him.
The rest? Go att'em.

So, what do you think so far, Scotty?

I think hearing everyone's opinion is great! It has given me a lot of insight about how many people can feel so differently about the same car. I guess that is what drives our passion for these classics, if we all liked the same thing it would be awfully boring.

WOW!!! Thanks for the kinder words today.
So when you say fill the wheel well better, do you mean there should be more sidewall? This tire and wheel combo is about 25-26in diam.,I think they fill the wheel wells much more than stockers...IMO

As far as in the black, or in the red, that will be determined when it is sold. I do know for sure I'm not 5k upside down. I will most definitely keep you all posted as to how the sale of this car plays out.

Based on the fact it is a very solid, essentially rust free car, with functioning A/C (counts for a lot here in AZ), nearly all the mechanicals are new, and a fresh new interior.... I am confident it will be a 5 figure number.

......and let the comments fly lol

The higher of the two would be awesome!! But yeah, that ain't gonna happen. Closer to the bottom end of the 5 figure range.
