My how things have changed. Around 1981 in preparations for the 1984 Olympics LAX added an upper level, I was working at an architects office at the time and had to make many drives during the construction, talk about a mess.
From the lower level, I was surprised to see the pilon was still there (image date 2015)
...the upper level.
gone now, looks like it was last there in 2020, later dates show the building gone.
