I doubt this car exists anymore. There's not much left in Paradise, CA. Over 6,200 homes destroyed, including many of my church members and friends. Truly sad....

It’s horrifying what’s happening out there, unbelievable.

Yes it is. The really sad part is anyone with eyes saw this coming. Paradise was beautiful, but it was a fire waiting to happen! The trees were too close to structures and brush was everywhere. Look at the third picture in this guy's ad - notice the trees.

I had some Paradise people in worship last Sunday. We were talking about that very subject. One man told me about one of his neighbor's, whose house was gone, who was attempting to remove two pine trees that were right up against his home. A Representative of the Town Council showed up with a document preventing him from doing so. The neighbors had complained that he was destroying their beauty! Sorry, but decisions like that end up in conflagrations like what we are seeing.

At the same time, if ever I lose everything in a disaster, I do hope my attitude is like that of the people I spoke with on Sunday. They were without a home and provision, but they were in worship and giving thanks. Wow!

I called one Member who lived in Paradise and asked how he was. He said "fine" about himself and "gone" to the question about his house. When I told him I was sorry, he said, "Hey, it's all right. I got out with my two cars, my tools (he's a Contractor), three days worth of clothes, and my dog. God is good and everything will work out." Wow! He showed me a picture of his home a Deputy had taken; nothing standing but his gun safe and his AC. He said, "I'm waiting for the OK to go back in and start to rebuild." I saw him this morning at Men's Breakfast - he's looking forward to it! Say he loves it up there; he bought his house last year.

He's not alone people! Appreciate prayer!

Here he is, Doug Hayes, at my Christmas Open House last year. He and Smokey were in worship on Sunday! Yep, the dog was on a seat the whole time! HA!

I think I just saw this car on my local news in a story about the fires. Its burned but not completely. It was a quick shot but looked like the front clip was still green.

So there`s still some light in the middle of sadness.

These fires can come on with terrifying speed.People seldom take more than the clothes on their back and wallet.Even if they get in the house it,s birth certificate, credit cards, stuff like that.Poor cars get torched. Some poor souls got caught in their cars during the inferno.Worst possible death. With respects.B.B

Naaa he'll file for the 18k with the insurance, with a claim that it was on the verge of being sold. We'll see it at CoParts in the burn section... you can bid on it there. :wideyed:

Death toll is at 63 as of today, many of those were found in cars. There was one "famous" picture of a car laying on its side. No one knew why this car was in that position, but it made the news. Yesterday a Highway Patrolman looked into this car - it had a body in it. Why no pen checked earlier is a mystery.

Probably a lot of truth in that. Fraud in any disaster is large, rampant, and disgusting! Yes, we are seeing cases of it already here in Chico.

Death tool hit 76 yesterday.

Some good news, some of the people who thought their homes were gone have found that not to be true. Of course, the reverse is true too.

Saw the moon last night and the sun today! Praise God!! It is supposed to rain here for fours days starting on Wednesday. That will be great for the dry ground, but very hard on the thousands of people living in tents at two local churches. Alternative living spaces are being sought as I write this.

On a sad note, Walmart is shutting down its parking lot. It was discovered by FEMA, and other agencies, that some 90% of the people currently sleeping there area Chico Homeless, not victims of the fire. As I said, fraud is rampant in times like this.

I really don't get the Cali wildfires. I understand that Paradise is of older construction/code, but I remember seeing pictures of burnt houses in what was it the Orange County fire not to long ago of what looked like freshly built sprawl houses whereas the houses were a pile of ash and the lawn and surrounding trees/bushes were un-burnt green?

Isn't it tight code now out west to build the houses out of fireproof/retardant materials now?

Of course building the sprawl eve to eve ain't to bright for fires.

It is interesting about how the houses are gone but tress still stand. I heard a story from a survivor on Saturday night; the fire moved so fast!!!

What is quite weird is the number of plastic garbage cans that survived??? A buddy was showing me pics of his neighborhood; his house survived, as did two others, while every other one was gone. But, all still had their garbage cans standing!!!

If we ever get fire here, I'm jumping into my can!!!

He sure has his priorities straight. His buddy is alive and well. As painful as it had to be to lose the house and its contents, they're just inanimate objects.

The trees and brush is just not a problem for the Paradise area or older building codes. It's a problem in the entire state and up and down the west coast in dry areas.

It's going to take a lot of work everywhere to get the trees and brush in a manageable condition to prevent future disasters.
