Whenever I look at a picture of a group of 'cool' cars, and a hypothetical voice asks 'which one would you take if it was given to you, and why', my response is always the same - whichever one is worth the most, so I can sell it and buy multiple 'uncool' cars.
How many Newps could I buy with $100K?
Agreed. My lottery list is already created, contains 10 cars, estimated total $120k spent, buy-prices based on finding a 90% example and writing a check, not being thrifty. I just looked at the list and some of the numbers might need increased a bit from a few years ago, although I do have an SFGT listed, and I allotted $25k for that one, so the recent one in Wash State shows my numbers aren't that far from reality.

I've had a list for years also, now, regarding that elusive big win....

That's a good looking car. Bucket seats and console?, nice. Any interior pics?

Ask and you shall receive.

When I bought it:

After the Tilt-O-Scope column installed(which it originally came with, replaced with the fixed column after an accident), and upgrade to power driver and reclining passenger seats:

I got lucky and found a parts car about 40 minutes away that had what I wanted for the interior:

I paid $550 to have the seats redone, and serviced/cleaned up the column myself.

At this point, I'm thinking that I officially hijacked this thread.

To me, buckets and console is the way to go on the mid to late sixties Chryslers. Very nice.

I concur. This car feels completely different than the other Newps when I sit in it.

My now ex girlfriend hopped in it like a teenager when I first showed it to her.

Thanks for the compliment.

I don't know, I'm a mutt, my dog is a mutt, my cars are mutts. If it was a survivor in decent to nice condition that's where real value is, the car was put together in 1968 and has stayed together and maintained to make it to present day, the car in the ad has not done this. If it has good documentation, would be nice, and add value as well, original owner, selling dealer, etc. You can build this car out of a Satellite conv. and a crate Hemi for less than the asking price, only thing you are lacking is the VIN and bragging rights. If that means that much to you more power to you, it's still lost on me.

everyone is different.
To me numbers (colour, options) are very important. Not to impress other people but simply for myself.

I always have a close idear of what I really want. "How would I have ordered it back in the day?" Engine, trans, colour, further options.

Then I try to hunt these cars down as close as possible.

There is a reason why six out of my seven Fuselage are factory 440 cars.
Or why all my 1970 B-bodys are FC7 plumcrazy from the factory
Or all 68-69 B-Bodys are blue or turquoise.

But they have to be original that way.
I cannot simply start to built the cars the way how I would have wanted them.

Back in the 90s I bought a 68 Charger RT in England, total restoration, perfect condition. But it was a factory JJ1 gold car being painted EE1 dark blue during resto.
It was naked before the repaint and done perfectly. It won trophies at cars shows everywhere I drove up to. I sold within a year. I couldn't live with it. I was always thinking "it is gold". Again this is just me. Back in the 90s nearly no one could read fender tags overhere in germany and would have known about the colour change but I hated it. Since 15 years I own a QQ1 blue 68 Charger RT. Original paint with quite a lot of rust, dings and dents. I am happy and love it to bits.

Have we seen your blue '68?

I agree when you said earlier a convertible and a Hemi, manual trans are contradictory. I like the fact that you drive them with the bumps and bruises as survivors. On a package car R/T, RR, Gtx, it should be done in original color, the non package cars that have original nothing are a blank canvas.
Take Dave's last car he bought #2 I think he calls it. It is a nice car did it need work sure but it was not a big project with a apart engine sitting in crappy conditions. If this Gtx was used for years as a daily driver in upstate NY it will have a lot of problems underneath.
That is a lot of money for a car that has no chance IMO of survivor status, or just fix some bad and drive. That car is a project, a big one.
I'm going to guess the reason so few Hemi convertible 4 speeds have survived with original drivetrain is because of what you mention about being a cruiser and the engine and transmission take away from that. They were probably gutted for their driveline when the convertible and body got a little rough.
This one survived the crusher but is a victim of piss poor ownership and should not be rewarded. I hope the people that would be interested in the car get it for less than half the asking price going by face value of the ad, car would need some serious inspection and documentation examination
