Ever have a spark plug work itself loose and then exit it's location while moving at 65 mph? Oh, was that an experience on the freeway. Luckily lightly traveled one.

I had one come apart on a Ford Exploder once.

Had one loosen on my first motorcycle... The noise got me to pull over in time, but the aluminum head had about half the threads beaten to death...

I did what any broke kid would do, I torqued the crap out of it and hoped it would never shoot out of the hole (and into my thigh). I got luck on that one.

Had that happen on an old Sunbird (turdburd) that I drove for a while as a kid... did very much the same thing and it lasted till I sold it.

Funny story though, my Dad had a 65 Parilla Wildcat Scrambler. It was parked in the garage for all of my childhood. Story was that Dad finally got Mom to go for a ride one day and it chose that very day to shoot the spark plug out at her leg while she was wearing her favorite Khakis. That was the end of Dad having operational motorcycles.

The early GM 'Peanut' plugs would blow out the porcelain, most likely from some 'Tech' jacking the angle of the socket when tightened. (or over tightened).
When I saw the new Chrysler Hemi's with dual peanut plugs I thought, Oh boy those are going to be a money maker!

Loud, aint it?

Tell me about it. Cruising along, after breaking in a new camshaft, and went to step it up a bit and POW!!! Like a M-80. Then there was a strong metal clanking sound like a broken pushrod would make. Pull off the highway immediately and coast to a stop. Funny thing is I didn't see it right away. Wasn't easy getting out of the car on the right shoulder. Despite being over as far as possible one clown managed to miss me by 2 feet and he weaved down the right line. That sucker was close. So I stayed in the car till the flatbed arrived with my son who wanted to get out and stand along the grass slope. Nine year olds!!!

Called AAA and when asked the car the operator goes ooohhh sounds nice. Tow driver arrives and walks up to car and goes ooohhh beautiful car through his thick Vietnamese accent. He was a kick as I have a good friend who was a Captain in the South Vietnamese Air Force who flew CH-47 Chinooks. He had to drive a short distance to an exit to tightly lash the right side of the car due to the danger. While there, in a dirt parking lot my son tells me he has to pee right now. What, and the driver says just go ahead over by the trees and then off we go.

When we turned the corner onto the court where I live he saw the F100 and went wow. Then he saw the Mustang and Polara as he finished the turn and went double wow. After that I finally saw the loose #7 wire and found the plug wedged between the steering box and inner apron. The plug came clean out with zero damage to it or the head.
