The 7 Rarest Jeeps ever produced.. according to a source.

I knew of ONE of these cuz I'd see one everyday for a decade, but didnt know it had a "name"

It'll take a real "Jeepster" to come up with these I think. You can check the link at the bottom and see how many you got right, plus descriptions of each one.

Again my "recognition" -- I saw one once -- score was 1 of 7. My "naming" score -- what was this model called -- was 0 of 7 (one of 'em has a license plate with the model name, but still didnt mean anything to me :)) .

If you photoshopped Plymouth badges and posted that car on one of those snarky car blogs like jalopnik or curbside classic, you'd hear endless quips about the huge overhangs, wasted space, typically American, etc.

I just happened to see one in Person this Sunday without the Hardtop and the rear overhang looked a bit huge actually, but personally I think this one's a rather clean design and better looking than the older Dual Ghias which are somewhat in the same Tradition.

This one is here somewhere too .. hiding in another thread. here is is again.

1954 Chrysler ST.

After Chrysler showed the original Special at the 1952 Paris Auto Show, Chrysler exporter C.B. Thomas not only had a second one built for himself, but also authorized Charles Ladouch, Chrysler’s importer in France, to have Ghia build about 16 more (other sources claim only a dozen more were built). Ladouch, reportedly the same man responsible for transferring the Special’s styling cues to the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia, then followed that with the GS-1 Special in 1953 and the ST Special in 1954.

As with the GS Special and the Special before it, Ladouch had Ghia body the ST Special on the Chrysler New Yorker chassis and 331-cu.in. Hemi V-8 drivetrain and slightly modify Exner’s original design, altering headlamp placement and fender shape. According to the auction description for this ST Special, Ladouch had four Chrysler New Yorker chassis bodied by Ghia, two of them to be sold in France and two in Italy.

Lots of variations during this time frame on this body, while more of a prototype than special edition here's Exner's GS-1 by Ghia.

... 1954 Chrysler ST... Ghia build about 16... on the Chrysler New Yorker chassis and 331-cu.in. Hemi V-8 drivetrain...

Chrysler should do this again, even if only for publicity purposes. The European legislation allows for small batches (9?) of specials to pass through without the expensive testing involved. That is how newly born carrozzerie such as Touring (of Turin, Italy) for example have been able to make made-to-order specials of Bentley Continental, Ferrari 612, Maserati Quattroporte, and the like. The profit margin is there, as the prices for those specials are in seven digits. The market of course is in China, Saudi Arabia, and Russia. In that order.

One of these 74 Sundance cars sat it a field not 30 miles from me, for many years. He wanted 3500 for the car. I did a drive by about 2 years ago and the car was gone.

There was a white 69 SuperBee sitting in a front yard on a rural country road that I travel on regularly. The car had 4 flat tires and didn't move an inch. One day, about 4 years ago, I stopped by and asked if it was for sale. Of course it wasn;t for sale...."I'm going to fix her up someday". Well, I drove by last fall and the car was gone and I seen the owner cutting his grass so I stopped and asked how the restoration was going. He said nope, no restoration, some drunk driver ran off the road and T-Boned it in the yard and he sold it to a friend as a parts car.

Funny, that's why we moved to the country. I got home from work one night (about 1am) A guy rolls up to me and asks if I have any damage? I said "huh" He drove off yelling out his window, "check for damage." So, I go in the house and drop my things. I come out to look a the house to find skid marks across the lawn. hmmm ok, I go around back to the garage and see my Duster sitting half way in the alley. It was normally parked in the driveway waiting it's turn for the garage. Quarter panel smashed in roof bent up . I look across the street and see 2 power poles looking like tooth-pic shreds, only the wire holding them up. Seems a young rig worker drank in the bar all day, hopped in his brand new Camaro, passed out at my house, hit the Duster which shot him across the street into the power poles. Kid comes to, and makes it several blocks, makes a left turn, passes out again and dumps the car into the pond by the store.

1. Post #2: A running or salvage 1970 Newport 440. A picture of one from anywhere or time, or an ownership story.

2. Post #8. Road-worthy, auto-show "protoype" 1973 Plymouth Aspen, "basically a white 4drhtp Fury with a big blue snowflake on the side, ski racks and huge whitewall snowtires." Only one known to exist via eyewitness accounts.

3. Post #9: The 1969 Fury Snapper, No non-cartoon historical photos can be found, and not one single present-day example.

4 Post #10: The 1969 1/2 Plymouth Diplomat, "which appeared to be a Fury pillared coupe with Sport Fury ornamentation. It is these dealer initiatives and/or regional models that are the most difficult for automotive historians to discover and document." All we have is Toledo OH area dealer did them

5. From other threads: A REAL Fusie and Formal Newport Police Car. We knew they existed. We know WV and Illinois State Police had them, perhaps even NJ. Not a single pic, of one still around today, running or otherwise has turned up. Not even a broadcast sheet or fender tag of one has turned up.

Any info on these elusive C's appreciated.

At least now an additional confirmation on Number 4 above, thanks to ZedR in thread above, in response to 1970cat running across an average citizen looking for a 1969 Fury "Diplomat".

1969 Plymouth Fury I Diplomat WANTED - $1 (Palm Bay)

still no 1970 Newport 440 other than promo pic, no 1973 Plymouth Aspen, no 1969 Plymouth Snapper, and nada one "real' Fusie Newport-model cop rig (we have clones and vintage photos in service) living/dead today.

They'll turn up eventually if out there .. i hope :)
