Dad had a '77 or '78 Newport with this "Williamsburg" Interior. Car was white with a blue vinyl top matching the interior. I've never seen another one. Another great running formal as i remember.

Chrysler's New Yorker was downgraded to the junior 122-inch wheelbase for 1963-64, becoming the same general size as the less-costly Chryslers, yet sales were strong in both years. Arriving as 1963 "spring specials" were a 300 Pace Setter hardtop and convertible and the New Yorker Salon hardtop sedan.

The former, commemorating Chrysler's selection as pace car for that year's Indianapolis 500, was identified by crossed checkered-flag emblems and special trim.

The Salon came with such standard luxuries as air conditioning; AM/FM radio; "Auto Pilot" speed control; power brakes, steering, seats, and windows; TorqueFlite; and color-keyed wheel covers and vinyl roof. Minus the Pace Setters, this lineup repeated for '64 with largely untouched engines and styling.

Lot #506 - A Chrysler 300 Sport Series convertible paced the 1963 Indianapolis 500 mile race, one of only 1,861 built by Chrysler in this rare and distinctive style. Powered by the 383/205hp V8 with a push-button Torqueflite automatic transmission, this example with its Pace Car graphics is beautifully presented in the special V Code Pace Car Blue with white interior and white vinyl top.

It has been fully restored and is equipped with power steering, power brakes, air conditioning, bucket seats, console, full wheel covers and white wall tires. Its restoration has addressed every aspect of its presentation, from the meticulously restored engine compartment to the gauge-equipped dashboard and elaborate interior.

Available only on the Pace Setter editions was the squared-off steering wheel, one of several unusual steering wheel designs that made 60s Chrysler interiors look like popular images of spacecraft.

All I found was this (upper right example) .. looks like a RPO for Newport. Does NOT mean, however, it was NOT part of a 'promotion" (e.g, Spring Sale, regional deal, etc.) but I have not found anything like that yet.

Never realized that interior was offered in all those colors. Being a company car it would have been ordered in August. Looks like just an interior package.

Anybody know what had to be on the car to make it a Sport Suburban over a Grand Fury? My parents had a Gran Fury, woodgrain, 400-4bbl plain vinyl seats, dog dish hubcaps.

The Sport Suburban package was the top line Fury wagon and started in 68 and carried through to the end of the C Plymouth wagons in 77...woodgrain was a must as it was a cornerstone of the package. Very few left, sadly. Below is info from 68 and the 74 dealer books that describes well the hierarchy of Plymouth wagons.

In the same vein, I've heard Chrysler offered Tartan plaid interiors from the 40s through at least the 70s, although I've only seen late 40s/early 50s and mid 70s. Anyone have something outside those years?
 

Says here purely a regional play in the Cincinnati Zone. Cannot yet find a single present day picture of one.

the 1978 Dude II customized by VAN MASTERs in Columbus, OH, was an exclusive product of the Cincinnati zone. A limited production truck based on the original DUDE concept.

Standard equipment included: 318 V8, 3 speed (load flight) auto
transmission, power steering, power disc brakes, tinted glass in all
windows, parchment trim set, cigar lighter, bright front and rear bumpers, bright grille, dual electric horns, grip rails, front stabilizer bar and the bucket seat package.

Special equipment for the Dude II included individually hand painted murals, polished aluminum slotted mag wheels, custom vinyl fitted tonneau cover, BF Goodrich 60 series steel belted TA raised white letter tires, a dash mounted AM/FM stereo 8 track player with twin custom mounted 10 ounce speakers.

Custom upholstery included plush carpet door kicks and flooring, padded
vinyl head liner, rear wall and door panels.

yeah...the Dude II existed but finding one still on the road seems a tall order. guess our southern OH/northen KY members would have best chance to know more about 'em.

another example of these "regional" vehicles .. could be a few dozen (?) Mopars like this '70's-present day .. that are obscure to everybody outside that region.
 
Apparently 1977-2002 Chrysler had 24 sales "zones". in 2002 they went to some other structure, and probably today (post bankruptcy/Fiat) have yet another.

Read between the lines in this article and you can almost see 'why" crazy cars got done on a rogue basis out in a region. It just took too long for decisions to be made in the OLD system .. so people just "did stuff".

Why? Not always cuz they were "bad guys" who didnt want follow rules -- these dealers/zone people I mean -- but because they "had to move iron" given fixed costs in a dealership and arguably ridiculously high factory sales goals etc. Tremendous pressure was on them.

DETROIT -- The Chrysler group is folding its 24 regional sales zones into eight business centers, including a beefed-up California unit that will lead a major charge into that import-dominated market.

The reorganization, which will take effect Jan. 1, aims to improve the group's retail decision-making process and to slash the time it takes for decisions to become action. Another key objective - to get more bang out of ad dollars by coordinating national and dealer programs better.

"We have a 25-year-old configuration out there that makes no sense in a network world. We can get information out more quickly this way," said Gary Dilts, senior vice president of sales.

"With the new approach, we'll be able cover the day's business but get more firepower in the other areas," Dilts said.

Dealers applauded the change, saying the speed of decision making likely will accelerate.

"Marketing, advertising and probably the other business functions in the zone will be a lot easier to handle. They are taking too many steps to make a decision," said Ken Zangara, owner of Zangara Dodge in Albuquerque, N.M.

I had a 1980 Dodge St. Regis police car (rust bucket, salvaged for parts), Spinnaker white, with blue interior that was ex-Chicago PD. Bench seats, cloth and vinyl, with the cloth being a blue/green "tartan" style.

Yeah, if I can't prove it, we have to assume it doesnt exist :) But I am trying to find the 35mm Kodaks on that car to confirm/refute. I cannot find any confirmation of this interior offering in any google search.

One year only, the venerable C-Body "300" name was worn by a "B" (some say "R") Body.

Now that is very interesting... Prior to your ownership, someone may have swapped the police seats with something nicer from a civilian Newport. In any event, that's later than the last C-body I'd seen (1976).

I also just remembered there were plaid interiors shown on early 80s (upscale) K-cars.

Looks real to me based on the stuff below. only 7 done by Emess Coach Works in Florida allegedly for Chrysler. As of 2014, alleged 5 of the 7 still exist.

This is a near perfect example of a Custom Sport Special with the High Performance Package. This CSS came with bucket seats, console, heavy duty gauge package, full width rear window, racing stripes, and the High Performance Package consisting of the 426 cu in street wedge, torque rods, dual exhaust and push button transmission.

This is the data plate and SERT sticker located on the driver's side door jam. SERT is an acronym for Special Equipment Release Truck and if any special equipment was put on a truck dodge would affix this sticker to aid in replacement parts ordering.

The SERT sticker is a reliable way of authenticating the validityof a truck and its equipment from this year truck. For reasons of maintianing the originality of these truck SERT part numbers are withheld to discourage piracy of non original CSS trucks.
