We use these for derbying but I also put them on daily driver cars Incase a wheel bearing fails this will save you from a wheel falling off until you can stop I promise you that.

I don't think you can fit a dust cap over that nut. Gotta keep that dirt out or the bearings can fail.
 
Yes to a degree, and you are not wrong. It's pretty good fit though and you could seal the grooves in with something for a piece of mind but just throwing it out there as another option they really do work to hold the hub on in a failure. Plus we rarely drive our cars in car weather or sub par roads. At least I don't unless I'm stuck in a storm.
 
Not doubting the need for something of this nature in your racing exploits, but might a larger flat washer under the OEM nut provide much of the same thing and still fit under the needed grease cap?
