Stan, Explain your lawmakers

Ignore the news.
Licenses don't mean crap down here. Half the drivers down here don't have them and of the remaining half, most of them should have them taken away. So you got 90% of the cars going 1/2 the speed limit. 1. Because they don't want to be pulled over while driving without a license, or, 2. Their reflexes are to slow to try and pass the car in front of them that's going 1/2 the speed limit because they don't want to be pulled over while driving without a license.
Add to the fact that most of the counties don't require safety or emissions inspections...
Well, it's pretty pathetic down here. I do enjoy no emissions testing, though.

No emission testing period? Or no emission for classic/historic car plated vehicles?

Counties with major urban areas in them (Tampa, Orlando, Miami) have them. All of the rest have zilch. Zip. Nada.
Got some scary **** out on the road.
Poorly maintained diesels? No problem. The orange groves love that protective coating of soot. Ever smell orange blossoms and diesel fumes together? Combine that with every pickup having mandatory dual 6" mufflerless systems, it's the best argument FOR government regulation. It's a double edged sword.

I probably cut the emissions in half since I got the NY'er......the Lean Burn, exhaust, and carb were all in terrible condition.

Took me months of removing, taking apart, and reinstalling my TQ countless times to get it dialed in correctly. And I haven't a clue what I did. DAMN that's one pc. of Rube Goldberg of a contraption to simply mix gas and air...
Must have been designed by the gum'mint.

It befuddles me how the G Men came up with a reasonable standard to impose on manufacturers.

The radio talk shows (or as my sainted mother used to call them, the open mouth shows) up here have been making hay with this all week. The CAA (Canada's AAA) sells the international driving permits and I swear they have been on 3-4 times a day trying to scare people into buying the things.

I cannot imagine the Florida tourism industry and especially the rental car agencies would take this sitting down. It seems really dumb.

I was trying to imagine the uproar if Alberta tried to do that considering most road traffic from the lower 48 to Alaska goes through here.
