My wheel was really bad whole top part disintegrated. I didn’t want to spend $3000.00 to have restored. Here’s what I did, with some rubber hose P7 filler and Sem paint.

Good job and way it was done.

Years ago, a friend was going to get a leather steering wheel redone for his car. He was referred to a local guy who did upholstery for some of the higher-end sports car people. His recommendation was to remove all of the plastic that was disintegrating, then replace it with thick-wall rubber fuel line hose, then cover that with the leather, stitching in on tightly. Price was reasonable so it was done. Looked OEM, but was not.

Nice job! I fixed a few wheels over the years, but mostly just cracks. One that I did had a few 1" spaces where the plastic came off, but never as bad as what you had.
