Suggestions for a "Performance" muffler that isn't too loud

My Newport has these MagnaFlows and is still making way too much noise…
In two weeks I will install other mufflers and will let you know how that turned out

Did your Caddy mufflers neck down to a 1.5" baffle? I was looking at reviews on Summit racing site, and a buyer was not happy with finding that the muffler inlet decreased in size.

I have a pair of Walker Quiet Flow stainless steel mufflers on my Fury and have not noticed any drone. My neighbor says the car sounds great. Idle sound is good too. They weren't expensive either.
 
I use the Maremont Turbo the one about 36" long with 3" in and out core is about 30" iF you have the room
otherwise use dual Imperial mufflers

We took out the old mufflers AND took out the cross. Installed the biggest muffler that would fit…. Also installed end mufflers (wanted lowest noise possible).
Thing is though: only when I removed the cross the drone disappeared. This was the last thing I could come up with, to get rid of that drone…. And it worked.

The vibration of both pipes coming together caused this; like a trumpet that only makes a sound when you blow in it correctly.

Hope you know what I mean…

Thanks for sharing your experience. Just to confirm, as you mentioned getting new mufflers, you removed the x pipe and went "true duals" with the same mufflers and that completely got rid of the drone? Also, are those mini catalytic converters?

Oh btw those little things are not catalic convertors: those are flexible mounting sleeves.

What did you finally get for mufflers? BTW, I'm running Flow master 70s on my 73 Newport. They have good sound and are quiet cruising down the road. Also, no drone.
