1963Superfly

I just purchased my first Imperial. It’s a 1963 Imperial Le Baron. Needs interior work, a little body work but engine, transmission, brakes, power steering and all outside lights work great. Just received it last night and already trying to locate a few parts to get me going. I need to locate a drivers side back up lense. It came on an almost empty tank so I chanced it to get to gas station 1.5 miles away. Made it, as I was about to finishing fueling a man started screaming and pointing under the car, gas pouring out of “newly installed fuel sender unit”. Let’s just say whoever installed it put in wrong one or was very poor at his job! Not good but got it home, drained fuel and ordered a new one supposedly for a 1963. Let’s hope so. I also need to either find new outside door lock cylinders as the ignition was changed but not outside locks and no keys provided, I may try to get a locksmith to rekey with my ignition key if possible. As for the power windows only the power vent windows work, not main 4 that in Texas is a must. Hopefully just bad contacts needing cleaning and some good lubing of interior arms (wishful thinking probably). The interior door locks work great, only realized that when I locked myself out, thankfully back door wasn’t locked! I’m a classic car nut, have 16, all different makes and models but my first Imperial. Man, just that 3 mile round trip to gas station (even pouring gas out) hooked me. Floated down the road and had great power. As smooth if not smoother than my 1965 Cadillac. I absolutely am a huge fan of Imperial’s now. Start of a journey of restoration. Looking forward to it a meeting new experienced people on here that can help provide tips. I’m a doer so I love the challenge. Hopefully I get to a point I can help out others out as well as I do on my other cars! Eric
