The 1965 Polara/Monaco/880 thread!!

Here are some pics of my '65 Monaco. I purchased the car in May of 2016 in Toledo but it is originally a Florida car. The car has a 413 4 bbl, ps, pb, a/t, factory tach in the console, and a period correct under dash A/C dealer add on. It retains the original interior but has had one repaint. The third owner added an electronic ignition and disc brakes on the front. For those of you know your Monacos, you will notice the trim on the side of the car is actually from a '66 Monaco. My best guess is the 2nd owner added that when he had the car repainted. I thought about removing it but then thought it would probably damage the paint underneath so I decided to leave it on for now. Have yet to see another Monaco at any of the Cruise Ins I went to this summer.

I'm curious how that 66 front fender trim piece fits on the 65 fender.

Personally I think its a nice touch having that trim on there.

Question though, Your center console goes all the way back and blends with the rear seat. Is that just a Monaco thing? I know that my Polara doesn't do that.

Yes, that design was only produced on the Monaco trim level.

I am working on a 1965 dodge polara also. It is a 2 door hard top with a 383 and a 727 . I had a buddy paint it and it is an alright job. It's white with a black painted top with white interior, blue dash. I will try to post some pictures later on.

My 65, it's a work in progress.
You still can enjoy it and it look good! I like the wheels. What kind are they. They look clean.

That side trim on that is that a standard factory option back then? My car doesn't have any side trim.

Also Should there be trim between the two thin pieces on the trunk lid?

The trim was factory but I have yet to find any trim around anywhere.
That's a heavy tape the previous owner put on there to keep the water out of the trim holes.
The wheels are 70's Cordoba wheels.
The car has been my daily for 2 years.

Mines wrapped up in a nice warm garage till spring.

If your car is a Polara 500 the moldings on that body line would be standard, and the same as a regular Polara. The 2 moldings on the deck lid were also standard on your car. The deck lid finish panel may have been optional on your car, I'm not sure about that though, they were standard on the 880. The side moldings are different on the 880 and Monaco.

It is a 500, but it was re-sprayed at some point and I'm guessing it was removed and never put back on. Maybe I should look for replacement trim.

hey guys i'm going the need a drivers side rear quarter upper molding for my 65 880 rag , neighbor hit it with his p/u bumper . not sure if the molding can be saved . the quarter can be worked out .
