John:
Thank you. I've decided to keep it till the car shows are over at least, maybe longer. It does however take up much space in my storage facility. I've been offered $8000 for it a couple of times, so I'm not in a rush to sell it. A car like this comes once in a lifetime, I only wish all of you could see and drive it, it is beyond imagination for a survivor. It leakled trans fluid, a bit of motor oil, so last week we replaced all seals, trans, rear main (just to be sure) all pan gaskets, etc, etc, now it's dry as a bone. We put on a fresh new exhaust system, and a few other goodies to keep it fresh and like new mechanically. I hear tales about the gas tanlk sending units on these crapping out all of a sudden, so we replaced this one to be safe. And why not a set of new radials, and what the hell, long as the wheels were off, let's do the brakes over, and we did, new shoes, adjusted properly, changed all fluida at the same time. I LIKE THINGS DONE WELL!
Look fellows, I'm a pretty healthy 74, have stayed in the game even though I could have quit years ago. I love casrs, and only have owned two (2) Mopars, one a 1965 Dodge D100 Sweptline, (see cover photo and story in "Vintage Truck" magazine, Jan-Feb 2012, Vol 19-6. The complete story with photos of myself and truck, it will entertain you), the other Mopar is this 1967 Chrysler Newport. I never liked them until I owned these two. My truck was an "original survivor" (read the story) with extremely low miles,. I think it was 24.000, I forgot. Anyway I'll have some fun with you, match wits with the lot of you, and give as much brutal punishment as you give me. No punishment, we stay "car buddies", but I can handle most anything or ANYBODY, "been there done that". See you at the car shows.....in upper NY State and PA.
Happy Motoring
Gerry
