The 2013 Turkey run is in the books. A great time was had by all and there was plenty of cars, stuff and people to enjoy.

A highlite for Ellie and I was meeting Stan, aka "Commando 1", who drove up in his beautiful 76 NYB on Friday.
We met Friday evening for dinner and lots of great conversation ...(Anybodys ears burning ...?). Then saturday morning we hooked up and went to the speeday for a day of walking, fantazising, good company and telling lies.

Hate for it to end but we'll be back next thanksgiving.

Heres a few pictures......

I would like to tell everyone here, that they if they ever have to do one thing before they die, it is to meet Will and Ellie.
Ellie is a redheaded firecracker with the truest traits of a Southern Belle. An absolute sweetheart.
And Will, I can't say enough about Will. One of the most modest men I have ever met. Now knowing more of Will's fascinating, varied, and very (!) accomplished past (blew me away!), I am honored to know him. And I cannot emphasize the part about "accomplished" enough. This gentleman truly should be respected when he offers help and insight.
This was My first Daytona and it is now on my short list of memorable events. Thank you Will & Ellie for showing me the town.

A word of advice:
Never, ever, park your car next to Jazabelle. Your car becomes invisible. Like it doesn't even exist.
Jazabelle literally stopped every passerby and drew huge compliments. The New Yorker? Zilch. Actually, Ellie said one person but I wan't there and didn't hear it. I think she said it to make me feel better ;-)

BTW, There were stretches coming home I was doing a 100 mph and that the new front end was as stable as could be. Most rewarding ball breaking job I have ever done.
And the $168.00 ticket for going 66 (45 mph zone) from a local yocal? Yah. I'm pissed!

I'll tell y'all about the dipstick story later ....... Stan stole my thunder with that one.
We're still in Daytona, going to the shiny diner for breakfast ..... then a drive on the beach .... then St Augastine ...... then savanna Ga..... Just dosen't end.

Dammit, Stan looks like a regular guy. No fodder....

Ellie always looks too pretty to be hangin out with the likes of you all...

Excellent! Glad you guys had a good time, wish I could have been there! Shouldn't there be more pics???

I see Stan is guarding the Krispy Kremes in the first picture! LOL!

I'm glad you guys had a great time!

What a hell of a gang of great C-Bodies guys and gals on this site!

You staying the night in St Augastine, Will?

I could count on my right hand the C-bodies....

Stan, you got to go to Carlisle (at least once) ......hard to find a spot to park on the C-Body Line if you get there late. I'll pickup you up at BWI Airport in Baltimore and you can road march with me to Carlisle.

A few more years and I'll be to go on the "Warm Weather Wear Ever in the USA Tour" with Will and Ellie. LOL!

So Stan how come you didn't bring your car? LOL :poke:

Looks like you guys had a great time thanks for sharing the photos and experience.

I love the old moving van/truck any idea the age, what the owner had planned for it? I kind of like it just the way it is, if it was mechanically sound. Would hate to think how much that would cost to restore.

Early 1950's I believe. Custom body on an IH chassis. Last on the road 1972. In Daytona all it's life. We believe it was towed there. He brought it to sell or trade. Would make a great car hauler or camper.
Every square inch of external sheet metal and glass has to be replaced. The metal is easy. All you need is a sheet metal shear and a million blind rivets. All the interior wood is excellent.

You read my mind about the car hauler. That would be one cool car hauler, but if he ever sells it, the next guy will probably think half way into the project, "what the hell was I thinking".
