Thermostat Help

Yes, thats clear. The question is when is my engine broke in? After how many miles?

Your engine is "broken in" within a few minutes of firing it up the first time. 50 years ago, it was necessary to have long break in periods to seat the hard chrome rings. Modern rings don't need that time to wear in and seal the cylinders.

Really, the only thing that takes any amount of time to break in is a new camshaft and lifters.... and that is pretty much done in 10-15 minutes of run time.

Thermostat keeps it warm, radiator's ability to dissipate BTUs to air keeps it cool. Its that simple.
well said. this is not rocket science here. engine needs to be at least 195 to remove any moisture and lubricate properly. most guys panic when engine temps rise above 210. your engine is better off running at 220 than 180.

If you are not using a mechanical guage you really have no idea what temp the engine is at anyway I have owned my Challenger since the mid eighties and it always goes to the H or at least the high side of the sweep. I have changed or rebuild all parts of the cooling system or engine same result. On the way home from Carlisle on the 100° weekend the car was 216° at the top of radiator be hose high 90s ambient temp using a laser temp gun.

And I am planning to build in some gauges like: water temp, oil press, RPM, trans temp, voltage.
