i have a '70 383 4bbl intake manifold, that i'm thinking of using when ever i decide to change out my '68 383 2bbl for a 4bbl

question is will the stock 2bbl throttle and kickdown linkage work on the new setup (i don't have the carb yet)

all i know is that manifold has been in the garage for over 10 years...

I did this swap on a 71 Newport and used all the 2bbl linkage. Make sure that that the throttle pressure linkage to the trans is adjusted so that it is all the way to the rear at WOT.

I had the same problem on my 65 Newport. Edelbrock 4 bbl and 2 bbl linkage. Did some fiddling around and got the throttle working but no passing gear. Reading around I found I needed Lokar Cables, new throttle cable holder, various linkeage adapter for the card. Then read on here 2 bbl linkeage work, read the service manual. Did that and as itbacon states make sure throttle pressure linkage is adjusted at WOT. Did what he said, took it out, and what do you know, Passing gear. Thanks for the help.

It will be too short 2 bbl is in center of manifold 4 bbl is more forward. You can probably unscrew the adjustment to get close, you can add a bolt through the rear of the slot to make the linkage push all the way rearward at WOT.

I have used the lokar cable on a build, some pretty nice stuff. If you can't get your 2bbl linkage to work
