Top End Rebuild 71 monaco 383.

If he went with the TTI's and the car is not a daily driver I dont think they should be an issue.

If you do go with headers make sure you install a smaller starter so it can be replaced without unbolting the header and raising the left side of the engine.

Yea the manifolds are fine that are on it now, ive been debating the headers. , especially since i havent found any for a C body except for TTI who want a fortune for their equipment. I can get a whole dual setup with mufflers installed for 680 $ plus our great 15 % tax . 625 $ from tti plus shipping is rough.. plus installation.:3gears:

Yup, those TTI's are great but get ready to lay down lots of greenbacks. Kind of defeats the purpose to lay out that kind of bread only to keep your wheels parked most of the time.

couple more photos i took today after i washed her down ! car10.jpg

Does anyone know the exact way to setup the kick down lever for this edelbrock 1406.
I got a 383 with 1406 edelbrock and 2186 edelbrock intake. is there a complete kit i can buy to get this set up properly as of right now we kinda jimmy rigged it up . it works but when i give it just a bit of gas it seems to want to drop down into first gear pretty quick.

im away on business right now, would post pictures of how we set it up. but if there is a whole new kit i can purchase then I would rather just spend the cash and set it up properly .. thanks let me know !

i did purchase the carb adapter #1481 and installed it. is there something else im missing ?

Was your an original 383 2bbl setup? This is a picture of my setup. Mine is a 400 4bbl.

There isn't a kit for Mopar's. That 1481 bracket is a must and then that txsm rod extender Edelbrock recommends that I talked about in an earlier post #8004 or #8005. I didn't use the rod extender at all. I even have the cruise control hooked up and working.

If you can post a sharp and clear closeup of that I'd appreciate it.

Stan,

I'll take a picture during daylight tomorrow when it stops raining. All of the linkage conversion is 100% done except the cruise control. I removed the rolled pin off the T/Q that the cruise control cable mounted on. The problem on the 1481 adapter is the hole where the cruise is suppose to go is too big for the rolled pin. There's a squared shape tab on the 1481 right above where the rolled pin is suppose to go that bends inward towards the carb. If you look at the picture I posted in the last post, that tab is directly above the silver nut that bolts the 1481 adapter to the carb. I placed the eyelet of the cruise control cable over that tab. Took it for a ride and it worked. I'm going to have to fabricate an adapter that will mount to the 1481 adapter properly amd incorporated the rolled pin so it looks like a professional installation.

That's always been the problem when removing a TQ for a Holley or Edelbrock. The damn cruise control.
Always had to fabricate something. Was just wondering how you did yours.

I'll post a detailed picture(s) when it stops raining tomorrow. I was kind of excited that all of the linkage was matching up when converting from the T/Q...until that damn cruise control cable. I just stuck the eyelet of the cruise control on that tab just to get it out of the way. There is nothing holding it on and it works and never came off that tab. I've used the cruise control at least 50 times already and it works perfectly every time.

As promised...my temporary cruise control cable mount.

Stan, as redneck as it looks, it works perfect. I initially hooked the cruise control cable eyelet on that metal tab just to get the cable out of the way to work on the rest of the linkage and forgot about it. I was driving down the highway the next day and remembered that I just looped the cruise cable on that tab and tried operating the cruise control and it worked. I'll have to fabricate something for a permanent fix.
