I have a 3500 stall and it has some weight's tacked on it , now what I need to no is if this conv. is for a cast crank motor and if it is can I remove the weight's for my motor it has a steel crank.

Thanks for you help

i am no expert but as far as i know the engine is balanced all by itself and the torque converter is balanced by itself. the weights tacked on are merely for the balancing of the torque converter.

It sounds like it's for an externally balanced engine. Could be for a cast crank or a heavy rod (like the later six pack rod) steel crank.

Any chance it has manufacturer name?

Chances are good you can remove the weights, but I would call the guys that made it.

am i missing something here? .are we talking torque converter or harmonic balancer?

The external balance engines harmonic balancer and torque convertor both have offset weights.

It will make your brain hurt trying to match parts sometimes.

Knock them off, then.

BTW, do you know if it's really a 3500 stall or was that what you were told.
3500 is high.

First off what is the diameter not the ring gear but the body. 2nd is the weight a big Chunky thing or flat and wide, or just flat, 1/8" thick or less. The old D.C. books or M.P. books had a diagram of where to add the weights for different engines using the offset lug as reference point if someone can post them you can compare if not I can see about putting them up when I get home.
