Torqueflite won't shift to second engine is dragged down

Well I dropped the valve body, found no detached struts or parts, and loosened the low reverse band adjustment and had to take a claw hammer to pry down the lever and the piston suddenly snapped back up in place. I've looked carefully and the strut is in place and don't see anything out of place. I turned the adjuster and took up the slack and notice there are definatly less threads showing than in the picture I took. I took compressed air and actuated the servo and everything looks right.

I guess I will have to buy an inch pound torque wrench to get the 72 inch pounds and back off 2 full turns and see how it works? I can only speculate that the low reverse band was adjusted to loose which allowed the servo to come down too far and stick at that weird angle?

Unless you can get a picture of what a normal tranny looks like you may never know. ...

You can still pull the retainer and snap ring to take a look at the bore it should be okay if it went back in. If you put the rear wheels up off the ground, place the car in neutral, tighten both bands till the driveshaft won't turn then loosen a adjuster slowly until the driveshaft starts turning then back it off about 1 turn. The idea being the 72" pounds squeezes band on the drum and then you are adding back sufficient slack with the 2 turns or whatever your trans calls for, you will be doing same thing with Rick Ehrenburg from Mopar actions way that I described you just don't need a inch pound wrench. I have used this numerous times since I read this in Mopar Action a while back.

Updateark rod stuck!

Well it would seem I've gotten myself into a pickle, I adjusted the bands and replaced the valve body and tried to shift it and it's stuck to shifting into 2 gears only. It shifts fine with the body out and dangling but remember I never disconnected the park rod from the valve body.

It would seem the other end of the park rod in the tail shaft is not where it should be? Any ideas?

isn't the parking pawl a mechanical connection? Sounds like it is not adjusted correctly.
