Trains

I rode in a restored passenger coach pulled by this steam locomotive from Allen Park Mich to Ft Wayne In and back. It was a day long excursion back in the early 80's I think. There were about 6-8 restored private coach's on the trip.
I think I have pictures somewhere. Will have to dig for them.
The Smokey Mountain railroad has one or two that run out of Bryson City North Carolina, also a fun trip. Then there's one at Greenfield village in Dearborn MI. And one in Spencer NC, at the old Southern railyard yard, now a RR museum.
I love the first generation "F" unit diesel's too.

Not seen that one ,Will look it up:yaayy:

They have it in 4 parts. Done in their typical campy style, but still worth the watch for this great train.

Some of the most impressive locomotives were the Union Pacific "Big Boy" series. 4-8-8-4 articulated motive power. They definitely earned their name.

Saw my first steam train this wk ,Since I was a boy ,So I thought I would start a thread on trains ,The most famous one in the UK ,is the Flying Scotsman engine number 4472 ,Is there any famous ones in the ,US

I don't know if anyone else here remembers, but Road & Track magazine did a road test on this engine. I think it was some time in the late sixties or early seventies. It was a test of the "Gresley A-3 Pacific", I think. It was hilarious. Here is a link:

If I ever get back to Maryland before my sister moves, I'm going there for sure.

Yep....don't be around that area when they acquit the cops in the Freddy Gray case.
