trans bolts missing - wth?

From the photo it appears to be the inspection cover bolt that's missing.

My pan bolts are 5/16ths. Helicoid of that size is a drill bit of 21/64 and a 3/8thz bolt is 20/64ths. They have not learned there lesson because I had issues with my 09 ram and the aluminum heads. I was lucky and was able to get out exhaust bolts that snapped off. Engineers!!

Pretty much everything on new stuff is aluminum now... Timeserts and helicoils are too often necessary to finish a job and all hand tools when working on the stuff... Yuck.

Helicoils are the way to go.

I used to work in a place that did a lot of aluminum parts for the guberment and they would install helicoils on every threaded mounting hole. The helicoil'd thread was stronger, wouldn't gall and wouldn't strip out with repeat use.

I wouldn't repair it any other way.
