Good evening all,

I'm going to replace my rusty trunk lid before body prep and paint. I've disconnected the vacuum tube for the remote release option, but it will not pull through the lid to get it out. It won't move an inch. The trunk light wire feels stuck as well. Surely they were routed after the panels were joined and painted. Buying new vacuum line won't be a problem, but I don't want to cut the factory light wire.

Anyone else performed this surgery and have pointers?

Thanks,

Brad

Must have got stuck somehow. Cut the lid and open it up to free these lines and wires.

Bend the end of a coat hanger into a small loop that just fits around the hose and work it into the trunk, you may need to work in in from both sides. It is pinched between the layers.

I could, but then thought about how hard it's going to be to fish a coat hanger through the new on as Alan suggested.

On my 69 Dodge there is a hole in the rear corner, you should be able to reach in there and work it out of that corner, that is likely where it is stuck.

When I put mine back together I ran the wire and hose through a piece of tubing to prevent this in the future.
