Turkey run.......

I can't stand idiot lights either. I put full gauges under the dash so I did not have to hack anything up in my car. Idiot lights comes on when its well on its way to being "too late". No thanks.

Day two.......

Started out on the cool side, but nice and sunny. Jazebelle got rained on during the night so I towel dried her and checked under the hood. All was well.
We only had to make 200 miles today so I thought "piece of cake".
After a long stretch of 2 lane east of Gainesville I started to slow for a speed zone in a small town and felt a "catch" and a slight drag in the steering. A quick check revealed a dry power steering reservoir. A nearby convenience store was able to offer up some fluid and I topped off the reservoir. I restarted the engine and rotated the steering shaft at the box back and forth to find a small squirt of oil from the pressure hose.
Damm.....

Down the road a advance auto store was of no help, (I really do miss the parts stores from back in the day before computors).

So i'm in the parking lot trying to wrap the hose in gorilla tape to keep the leak at a minumum when a fellow drives up in a really exotic custom sports car that sounded very healthy, and comes over to look at the chrysler. He tells me that there is an independent parts store another couple miles up the road in Pataka who.... If they didn't have my hose, would make one..!

You think the nimrod in the advance might have thought to tell me that....?

I got there, Ray came out and looked... said take it off and I can fab one for you, which he did and it fit perfectly.

Just for grins I ran the oil sender switch that everyone else had to order by him. He checked.... had it in stock, and loaned me the special socket to install it.

All that..... Parts and service for $50.00

We're in Daytona now, settled into a great room overlooking the beach....

Goodnight
......

I miss those stores too. The last private store around here closed up ten years ago

There's a private "mom & pop" parts store here in Paulsboro......"Feo's" I think is the name. They don't have a website, just a telephone listing. Found out about them from a parts rat over at the Advanced Auto store after they didn't carry a part I was looking for.

Really? Get anything for ya? Do they have 50 year old stock, you know where they blow the dust off the boxes

Glad to see old Jezzabelle back on the road. What's your oil pressure at cruising speed? Oh, that's right, you don't know... :poke:

No, ended up getting what I was looking for from Jegs, only b/c they could get it faster and I was not patient enough...but you do get to hear stories about the pre-FI days.

Road trip.... Continued.

Turkey run car corral finds.
I finally got someplace where i have a good enough connection to post some pictures I shot at the Turkey run last weekend.

After the oil switch and power steering hose issues were delt with the 300 has performed flawlessly. We left Daytona Sunday after a cruise down the beach in Jezabelle and drove straight through to Fort Morgan Alabama, about 500 miles. She's proven herself to be one hell of a road car. At this point of our trip were coming up on 2000 miles now. The weather has been sunny and warm so most of the miles have been top down cruising.

The right side valve cover gasker has started leaking oil onto the exhaust manifold. I located a set of gaskets today so will fix that tomorrow.

Heres a few pictures... will post more once I get home. (Early next week).

I kinda like the smell of burning oil....

That car is just awesome. I bet every single person you pass turns to look at it.
