Ugliest cars ever made.

I loved K cars. I used them as winter cars for years, throwing them to the salt demons while my big cars were indoors.

My Dad had one of these. Another car that people love to hate...

The K-cars were the anti-car.I was never so sick as when I first saw one.
The day my father downsized into one I knew his days were numbered...

Something you said Stan triggered a flashback, to my Mom's old college roommate driving out to see us. She was like the only bleeding heart liberal I knew at that time, bragging how her brand new K-car is suppose to get 40mph and the answer all our problems, and my Dad saying to me under his breath, "I wouldn't be caught dead in that piece of ****."

Why is it the K-cars get no respect. They sold well, and their success pulled Chrysler out of a financial slump. They were small, boxy and boring, but compared to much of the competition at the time, they were better cars, and were better looking. Even now, you still see more K cars (and K car derivitives) than the closest competitors which included 80's Escorts and Tempos from Ford and the GM X-cars like the Chevy Citation. I remember helping my mom shop for a suitable replacement for her 77 Country Squire wagon. I cut my arm on the chrome door glass trim on a Citation in the showroom when I opened the door. Like the mid 70's Novas before them, the Citations all had that slightly offset track, from front to back, that had them all going down the road slightly sideways. My mom ended up with a green Airies woody wagon. It was actually a very reliable car which she drove for 9 years. I liked the Aires wagon and it handled better and easilly out-accelerated the Country Squire which had a 400 under the hood. As station wagons go, it was one of the better looking ones of it's era. Heres a picture of the Airies when it was new. Its long gone now.

I had a K-Car and I kinda liked it. No... It wasn't the greatest car built, but geez... It got me from point A to point B reasonably comfortably and economically. I had a young family and not a lot of money to spend and I bought a used Dodge Aries for $1200. I drove the car for a few years and it served me well. The only real complaint I have was it rotted bad with the K-frame ready to fall out way before it was due. There was a recall because of this, but a zone rep (good friend) told me not to bother as it really didn't fix the car. By then I had a zillion miles on it anyway.

I also had a Charger 2.2 that I bought used ($300). That car was one of the most fun vehicles I have ever owned.

The cheap FWD Mopars that I beat back and forth to work were great. I picked them up cheap (under $500) and drove them for a couple years and I'd dump them for something else.

Pontiac Aztec, I have an Uncle who still has his Aztec, he loves the utility but it is one ugly car.

Since I am talking good utility, but ugly the new Ram "Fiat" Promaster is as ugly of a van I have ever seen.

I know alot of the Olds 4-4-2's were good looking cars, but who ever it was that was resonsible for some of the designs on the big Oldsmobiles should be shot. The widely separated headlight arrangement that frequently appeared on Oldsmobiles was hideous.

We've bought a couple of the Ford Transits for work. We bought one a couple years ago and it worked out so well we bought another this year. I thought I had a picture of ours with the wrap on it, but I can't find it right now.

Here's a stock pic.

That's one of my favorite 59 cars. I like the wide spaced headlights there and dislike this theme on the 67-68 Cutlass/440s.

Another ugly one in the neighborhood I just thought of. Nothing against the body style but I dare anyone to find an uglier painted pace car.
