Ugliest cars ever made.

I will start the list with the 78 Ford Mustang (rebadged pinto)

I had one of these. I ordered it in Midnight Blue with the front spoiler and painted my wheels satin black with silver spokes and the edges of the slots. I also removed the chrome horse on the grille (I still have it in the garage). With the 2.8 and 4 speed it was a terrific car. I kept it for 3 years and 60,000 hard miles to be replaced by a Diplomat. The only bad thing about the car was the crappy Firestone 721's.

Found this pic on the allpar website,I know amc are considerd the bastard stepchild of mopars, but I have always hated these .........its HIDEOUS coming and going1974-matador-brougham.jpg

Well, I certainly can't name every car that I thought was ugly, but I can name a few of them. I'll stick to actual production cars & trucks. I realize that some people here may own some of these, but I just didn't like the styling of them. I'm not basing this on whether or not they were good cars.

-Ford Falcons made after 1965, but not including the 1970 Falcon or the Austrailian Falcon's.
-Early Plymouth Valiant (1960-61).
-Chevrolet Corvair.
-All AMC's (except the 1967- 68 Ambassador, 1967-70 Rebel, 1968-74 Javelin, AMX and the '69ish Rambler American). IMO, the Pacer and the '74 Matador were probably the ugliest.
-All International Harvester pick-up trucks manufactured after 1957.
-Most full-size GM cars made between 1971-76.
-Chrysler Sebring 2006 & up.
-Chrysler Crossfire.
-Nearly all late model econo-boxes, especially the Japanese ones.
-Toyota Prius.
-Almost all European cars of any year, especially the small ones.
-All mid-'70's Ford Mavericks and Mercury Comets.
-Mid-'70's Datsun F-10.
-Some late '50's cars including some Mercury's and some Forward Look Mopar's...sorry guy's.

I could probably think of a lot more, but...oh well:laughing4:

For me personally I love the gaudiness of some the 50's cars. I can still find cool aspects of the car, and most were works of art, the artist just didn't know when to stop.

I thought of another the mid/late 70's Nova, my FFA advisor had one and it was a piece of crap too, not just ugly. The 80's Nova that was produced with Toyota of course was a joke. Does any one else remember following behind one of these cars after they had a few years on them, the rear tires never lined up with the front? I noticed this on several different cars so there must have been some fatal flaw in the design.

The 58 GM designs apart maybe from Cadillac were the most unpleasing compared to the other manufacturers and Mopar was a country mile ahead with the Forward look. Too much tinsel. Still not what I would call ugly, if I had to settle for one it would be the lowest line with the least of trim.

You guys have been doing a good enough job with the ugly vehicles, accept Gary...
I was never able to wrap my head around this gem.

You really have to concider the time period to appreciate the excess in chrome & trim on those cars.
Excess in style got a foothold in the early 50's and snowballed right into the 60's .... It's what sold cars then. Lots of chrome, lot's of glass and color keyed upholstery was the key. It was the realization that women were mostly responsible for choosing the family car based on style & colors ...... The guys got to pick the performance level.

I love the flashy look of the top level models of almost every American car manufacturer from 1955 t0 1961

My youngest son said it best when they came out "They now have an ugly truck that converts into another ugly truck".

I hated these cars, the rear end always wanted to get ahead of the front........

After a few years? I thought they did it right out of the box
