What heads are you running.

I will have to ask the builder the number for the heads (it is a good question)

Here are the specs I had in the bid for the motor - I modified it to have it for the RV block which I understand has larger motor mounts and some additional block and main bearing support

I had much of the chrome changed to "black"

Those aluminum valve covers really don't look all that cool anyways. Mopars don't need the "chevy" treatment. OEM painted covers and air filters offer the best "mean business" look IMHO

I hope they will fit with the rollers - I would paint them black if they fit
I have a dual snorkel for the car once these issues are resolved

I thought aluminum heads with roller rockers raised the total height of the head asemblies, but not sure. I would like to know what you find out. Also, the dual diaphragm boosters were used as standard on the 1970 Chrysler models with power disc brakes at least. Because they are the same as the Hemi booster, they are now more difficult to get and more expensive.

I think they use the dual diaphragm on the 440 for no other reason than clearance. They are smaller diameter and a little longer.

Alan

The dual diaphragm provides vastly more boosting power and correspondingly less peddle pressure required than single diaphragm .... in addiition to providing better clearance.

Is 440 that much bigger vs 383? 383 with dual diaphragm there is lots of room.

I have a stock 440 in my car and have the large diameter booster with no clearance issues.

I was making an assumption, most of my limited C-Body knowledge is from police package cars, my 318 Polara has the large one.

Do you know if the dual diaphragm will fit the fuselage body?

Thanks for the picture it helps

This is a fuselage (1969) that came with power brakes, 440 and this booster.

The dual diaphragm provides vastly more boosting power and correspondingly less peddle pressure required than single diaphragm .... in addiition to providing better clearance.

I wasn't saying it wasn't a better unit, just it may have been used simply for clearance issues.

Actually that is exactly what you said. But I wasn't calling you out and if you look back I did it nicely.

I was just saying there was more than one reason it was used.

for the RV block which I understand has larger motor mounts
"The thickness of the mounting lugs or "ears" was increased starting in 1975."

For all 440s, not just RV blocks...

First of all I didn't take offence to your statement but exactly what I said was that being a better unit or not wasn't the consideration when putting these on the 440 car simply the smaller diameter to address potential clearances issues, others have since stated that wasn't necessary the case. My stating for "no other reason" was that I saw that if clearance was the reason for using the dual diaphragm, that being a better unit or not was moot point. I'm sorry if I'm not a literary major and don't see a reason to spell it out in that detail. I think we are splitting hairs here and feel my point was made.

First of all, I wasn't offended either. I was simply adding and correcting the information posted in this thread as the OP is looking for information. It would have be done at that point if you hadn't then quoted me to tell me you didn't say what you had just said, or then coming back again, to say in essence, well OK that's what I did day but it's not what i was thinking.

The only reason I responded originally was to let you and the OP know the dual diaphragm was a better unit (not just shaped different/smaller) as you didn't seem to be aware of that based on your comment.

I'm not splitting hairs and I don't know what point you think you've made. I was correcting incorrect, incomplete information not making points.

I do not have the personal information on the dual diaphragm it is very helpful to know that it is better when making decisions on the Power Booster THANKS

MN72Fury some Clarifying points here:

What you are talking about are NOT motor mounts.

What you are talking about and posting the pics of are the mounting "ears" cast into the motor that the motor mounts bolt to.

The mounting ears on all 440's were beefed up in the mid 70's on all 440 engines, not just motor home engines.
