No, there was a note saying the Twin 200. So what're track held a USAC Twin 200 in 74

I believe that was Michigan. They also had "twin" races at Ontario and were called the Datsun 200's.
Once again great of pictures of a time when race cars looked like street cars that were meant to be race cars!!!

Quick question: I thought I heard that Nascar lost that cellphone company as the title sponsor. Is this true? Did they sign a replacement? Not that I care a lot...just wondering what condition their condition is in.

Flash from the past. Back in the day before there where radios in the cars. The crew chiefs had to comunicate with these pit boards. There where no spotters telling the drives info either. They just plain had to drive. In this pic Legandary Crew chief Harry Hyde (this guy was like Maurice Petty. He could do it all) tells his Dodge driver Bobby Isaacs to be alert of the Wood Brothers Mercury of David Pearson. Pearson earned the nick name "The Silver Fox" because he was clever & sneaky. Harry was worried about him. This was at Talledega 1972

Feb 1960. Fairgrounds speedway Charlotte, NC. Richard Petty gets his first win. Looks like a 58/9 Fury. 361? 383? Anybody know. Surely not a 318. What knucklehead would race a Plymouth with a 318?

Some interesting Facts about Petty's early years in Google books excerpt, repeated on the Mopar Website as well. No engine Facts given most likely the largest one available. They already raced the blue 1960 Plymouths with a 383, why Petty used the 59 in this race is not mentioned.

I think Bob was playing with us and it is in fact 318. The thing that leads me to think that is most fairgrounds were short, 1/2 mile or less and flat dirt. The 318 would be easier to control. Just spit balling

Well, there must have been some reason why Petty preferred the 59 over the 60 in that case.
