Vintage sportsman drag car

That car belonged to a local engine builder, Bob Henry.

Bob did a bit of R&D machine work for Chrysler's race program, but (here's the C-body tie in!) back when he worked for a Dodge dealer in Seneca Falls, he built an engine for a Chrysler regional service rep's Sport Fury GT. I owned that car some years later.

Bill Maverick Golden used an A100 as hit pit vehicle. Interesting story. Way back in the early 90's they where holding a Super Stock & Nostalgia drag race at Rockingham Dragway. The track was out in the boonies. I was comming to the track. Had just gone through the town of Aberdeen (remember Kellie Pickler from American Idol) which was the last town before the track. About 20 miles. It's a long stretch of two lane black top. I came up on this blueish looking A100 truck that looked kinda souped up. Apparently there had been a near collision with a local resident & the driver of the other car had taken to the ditch. Bill had gotten out to check on the guy. Everyone seemed ok & all smiles & Bill got back in the A100 & I followed him to the track. I suppose Bill had stayed in a hotel in Aberdeen the night before

One other thing about that pic.... I've been trying to decide if that is Empire Dragway. If it is, that food stand also opened to the spectator side of the track along with the "hot" pits. They also had a second window for beer on the other side. The guy serving beer wore a long barreled .45 revolver in a western style holster.
