I think I have at least 1 used. I'll check tomorrow for you.

Nervemind, I checked & the one I currently have left has a dent on the housing & the cowl just above is bent so something has hit it.

Alan, i do have a pic but having trouble getting it to download on my computer, but will still try!!

Are you willing to use an aftermarket one. I buy a lot of stuff from Rock Auto for my cars. So far so good with them.

I don't think there is an aftermarket one for my car, mine is the 3 pin, All i see in aftermarket are 2 pin conectors... Is the one on your car dented bad? And is it the 3 pin connector?

I'll pull it off & get a pic for you. You may be able to switch the covers from the one you have. Worth a try.

Voltage reg

Here's a pic of the one from the 69 Fury I'm parting.

Thanks for posting a pic! But that's not the one i need... Mine is the transistorized style with a 3 prong plug that plugs into the bottom of unit!

Ok I have been doing some research on this. The 2875400 was a 1969 (only) Imperial (only) unit.

Looking at the wiring diagrams I see no reason the 1970 replacements wouldn't work. The third wire was essentially power.

There are some websites that make reference to the alternator being different but the diagrams do not reflect this.

The one Julian posted above is from a later year and was probably working.

I don't know if this have something to do with this later model regulator, but someone taped an additional cable to the connector that goes directely to the alternator...

Yes (you can see the broken wire where the plug was), they probably used a 70+ dual field alternator.
The blue wire needs to connect to both the regulator (blue wire) and the alternator.
The 70+ regulator also has a green wire going to the alternator but this is the same on all alt/reg styles (pre 69, 69 and 70+).

Thanks Alan! Good to know that the white wire is correct!
The blue wire was eaten my mice... the connector is still there but it's only hanging on the green wire.

Correct but not original (69 Imperials didn't have it at all, white or blue), I'd rewire it with a blue wire in its place.

With that you are set to use the 70+ regulator and dual field alternator (I'd add a 2nd brush to a 69 alternator)

Alan

The 69 imp. has an insulated brush alternator which requires the 3 pin regulator with blue, green and black wires going to regulator.. One year only and yes imperial only. My Service manual shows the alternator and it has it own special section.... I'm happy its so easy to find my part lmao..
