Way Off Topic - How to Take a Tree Down

It looks like hes taken down a few more than you

Sometimes you do what you gotta do

I'm sure he has, but it's like I tell people who say guns are dangerous... I have several guns and two saws. If I use the guns properly, no property or people will ever get hurt, if I use the saws correctly they can kill me.

I know two professional forestry guys personally, one is dead and the other is disabled from felling trees. This is a DANGEROUS job and taking chances is not the way to do it.

Of course it is ....we all do things that others consider dangerous yet we may not give it a second thought because it is 2nd nature to us.

Next you'll be telling me I need to wear my seat belt because it's dangerous to drive without it. No thank you....I will take my chances as you will with your guns as he does laying down a tree

I'm strictly an amateur with a chainsaw, but have felled a few trees. As good as this guy may be, I can see no reason for the risks he took. and the helper wandering around alone gives me reason to question what his thought process was.
The FIRST thing I would do is clear the area and look for my escape route, a soft (or hard) spot in the trunk or a gust of wind could have changed his outcome very easily on this one. I also would not have thought it worth the risk, and pieced it down.

So how many times has that happened and we didn't see the video

A gun is easy to control and make safe, a high powered long bar chainsaw not so much... as to seat belts... your factory lap belts pretty much keep you in your seat during spirited driving and assure you will bite the steering wheel in a FE collision. If you drive a late model with airbags your a fool not to wear them... Maintained a Chrysler owned fleet for a few years and one of my duties was to estimate collision damage/ take care of wrecked cars... you wouldn't believe some of the ones that seat belts/air bags worked... the fatality cars...nothing was going to save them... they would be in pieces or so crushed.

As to your other post... I don't really get posting your failures in life unless its for educational purposes. Must be a generational thing, U tube is definitely helping Darwinism along... maybe not fast enough.

I see your reading comprehension is lacking this morning.

I also see I'm barking at the moon ....:yes_no:

And couldn't disagree with you more

Both of those guys were Pro's......

The other guy was standing right next to the tree within seconds of the tree falling and he didn't have a worry in the world.

I wish you could see some of the stuff I do on a daily basis.

It would scare the **** out of you........LOL!

Most of it it prototype and we don't know 100% what the outcome will be... except what the scientists and engineers claim and what I determine what is safe in HAWG (Hazard Awareness Work Group) meetings.

We've had fatalities at the Proving Ground while conducting testing.

There is more......but you get the idea. Wear your seatbelt Dave.

I think it was a combo of skill, some luck and possibly getting a little too cocky. The guy wandering around and only slightly paying attention while he was cutting kind of makes me wonder. I can't see a pro letting that happen.

Reminds me of a story my brother told... He was a MP at Fort Bennings in the early sixties. Some drunks had driven their Nash Metropolitan into an off limits area where there were tanks doing night maneuvers. It didn't go well for them.

Had a friend involved in a minor fender bender. His fault. The older gentleman in the other car wasn't wearing a seatbelt and the air bag killed him. If he had been wearing a belt, no problem... No seatbelt and no airbag... probably no problem there either. Airbag only... Big problem.
