I got the terrible news this morning that our friend @Ripinator had passed to the other side. He had been valiantly battling cancer for over a year, but things went south last week and he left yesterday, with his beloved of many decades at his side and surrounded by his loved ones.
Rip and I found one another through FCBO: I reached out to him to ask for advice about a restorer whom he might have known, and we started chatting. We were at Carlisle together later that year and, over the years, we became friends. Rip was always willing to help, and I witnessed him go above and beyond to help fellow enthusiasts.
He and I participated in numerous C-body events together. Three summers ago, we drove halfway across the country in my 1970 300 'vert. I had promised that, if I ever sold "the TNT", he would be the first to have a go at it. He bought it a year later, and I am glad that he got to enjoy it with his wife and his son.
He loved 300´s in general and 300 'verts in particular. The photo below shows him with the 1966 that he was driving when we first met.
Requiescat In Pace.
Update: A memorial service will be held in a few weeks. I will post details after I get them.
