Apparently mymopar doesn't have the '67-68 Chrysler service manuals for download.

I have a hardcopy '68 Chrysler manual which I can scan if you're desperate. You have to positively identify which switch you need first.

I do have the '67 manual here at the house.

That looks like the correct unit BARGE.

OK.so when you get the replacement,do not pull the old one out right away!! Undo the long wire cover from the column exposing the wires.
You may want to drop the column from the dash and firewall-just have one nut in so the column can wiggle around.
UNDO the switch from the column BUT LEAVE WIRES IN THE COLUMN PLUGGED IN TO MAIN HARNESS!
Move it around so you can.....
Thread new wires down to the plug and connect the wires into the plug ONE WIRE AT A TIME!
Then remove old switch from column altogether for good.

This is the column mounted turn signal switch for the following models WITHOUT TILT WHEEL and with SAGINAW steering column; PLYMOUTH; Fury I; Fury II; Fury III; Sport Fury; 1968; 1969; ALL. DODGE; Polara; Monaco; 500; 1968; 1969; ALL. CHRYSLER; Newport; C300; New Yorker; 1967; 1968; ALL. 1969 with Auto Trans. IMPERIAL: 1967; 1968; ALL. 1969 with auto trans. This switch is the RED plastic bodied switch. The Chrysler built columns for these years used the BLUE switch.

Did some research.. I hope you can return the Amazon switch. It may not be correct.

FYI, highly likely you need the Saginaw column switch, pink color 2880829.

Now that diagram does not look at all like my column, so I think I have the Chrysler column. I need to get back to this and consult my manual.

Hate to say this Richard, but you're not giving me a warm & fuzzy feeling about doing this job properly. Several people including me have told you what to do and what part to buy based on what you have. One even went so far as to find a better deal. Despite that you bought the wrong switch and again ask what to buy. If you take the same care in doing the job you're going to have a very bad day. Improper wiring in the best case results in things that don't work right & worst case burning your car to the ground. You may want to have someone do this job for you, I'd guess about 2 hours flat rate.

Success! After gathering all the information and researching the problem (and with the help of you guys, especially CBARGE), all is well with the Newport.

I came to realize that my Saginaw column switch was really f'd up by the previous owner, and so it was simpler (and no more expensive) to buy a replacement column that had a functioning TS switch in it. The replacement unit was a Chrysler column. The install was relatively easy, and now all signals and bulbs work perfectly. I'll probably take the old gal out for a cruise tomorrow, it's gonna be 70 again here in Tampa.
