For Sale What a shame.... 70 300 sdr

I do not even CONSIDER buying a car without a title IN THE SELLER'S name in their hand when I buy it. I have been burned before.....if you don't have the title, then technically you're selling something that you don't own.

I've been able to run the VIN thru the DOT/DMV database to check for liens ad if its been reported stolen. Then securing a signed bill of sale from the seller with a detailed description the vehicle, DL number and contact info of the seller, I've gotten clear title to several cars or cycles I've purchased.

Steve !

Step up, please another 300 needs to be rescued.

I am trying to be more sane these days! If I bought that one, I might have to sell another blue car to not clog up the place any more than it already is! :(Someone really should save it though. But it has the wrong center caps on the driver side at least, so I will have to pass. It would be worth it though for someone that doesn't have a 1970 300 yet. And it is all black!

I will buy a B7 blue or B9 blue car from you to make space for the TX9 black 300.
You don't have a black one yet.
Collect them in ALL colours:)

I am sure we will find someone who supports the correct center caps if you save it:)

Response from the seller ;
I do still have the car, the motor and transmission are actually still in the vehicle because I haven't gotten them out yet... I recently found out that the car is originally Platinum? And I do have pictures that I am enclosing now... I would let the motor and transmission go with the car for 3500.. 717-599-4862

I remember the black 70 300 conv from Texas , also platinum silver and repaint in black.

Yeah, I actually did call him just to find out more about the car a couple days ago, and like you I received the body code plate photo. It is platinum originally, and when I told him that he said since his dad had the car when he was a boy, it was always black. He was never trying to mislead me and was totally straight up about all he knew about the car and he provided me a bunch of photos. The rust seems to be mostly confined to the trunk floor and the lower part of the rear window - the rest of the roof seems solid and so does the rest of the body. He told me he would be willing to include the engine and trans in the sale if he could get $3K for everything that he has. But the engine is seized, so a rebuild is at least necessary, but it is the original one according to the numbers he said. It has some 88K miles on the car unless it has rolled over once, but given the photos of the seats he sent, they seem to be worn to a level consistent with that mileage and time considerations, and don't look like they were replaced in the past.

But the body code plate (and the photos he sent) says the car has autotemp 1, no disc brakes, but does have a black bucket seat interior with center arm rest and it has power windows.

So the question is whether someone wants a pretty unique platinum car with a black viny roof and bucket seat interior and would like to save it since it does seem to have a good body overall. I don't believe I have ever seen one that color in the flesh.

For me, I well know that I need to focus on what I already have rather than buying another project. But for someone that doesn't have one, you could do worse than this one if you want to do one for yourself. I thought the seller was exemplary in his honesty and willingness to supply me with the photos I wanted. And he wanted it to go to a good home since he has fond memories of the car from all the times his parents drove him around in it. But he also confirmed that if no one steps up, he will probably take the engine and have it rebuilt to put in the Ramcharger that he got from his grandfather. But at least he was more than willing to have it go with the car if someone would like to restore it. He just wanted some photos when done.

How in the hell did he destroy the grill surround on this 300?
The 440 could be rebuilt and since it's still in the car someone should grab it before it becomes a donor. This is tempting, but I don't need another one right now.
If someone here buys it and it needs parts, I have the entire black dash with wiring harness, door panels and buddy seat for that car that I'm never gonna use.

I have a B7 blue car and a B9 blue car I need to get done rather than a silver one! Wouldn't you agree?

Yes, I would.
I gladly take over the B7 blue car after you are done with it, too.
B9 just needs to get back in running condition than it is fine

$3000 isn't an insane price for this car if getting it whole and complete, compared to some $5-7000 project cars we've discussed on here in 2017. Yes, the seized engine makes you upside down from day 1, but 75% of the time we are anyway.

But at least he was more than willing to have it go with the car if someone would like to restore it. He just wanted some photos when done.
That rules me out - I preserve and repair, but never get anything done.

I don't know those two shades of blue nor your cars's options, so I disagree, IMHO silver is a better color if you don't already have it.

Something very fishy about this statement
"when the estate was closed the title was also cancelled out with the estate..."

PA does not "cancel" titles. My guess is he doesn't want to go though the effort of getting a replacement/reconstructed title or he doesn't own the car.

I wonder if he meant the car was marked as crushed or destroyed, and once done cannot be undone. I do not know PA laws, just speculating that the seller's language may not fully describe what actually happened.

I would buy it and save it if I had the cash right now. I am nearby him. I am up to 35 cars right now, stable is full but squeezing it in with the 3 Imps I have is tough.

They don't grow on trees anymore, either. 70 300s rarely come up for sale anymore and the

Wizard, I believe that car is worth saving and he is willing to negotiate. You must surely be able to squeeze just one more in with the rest of the herd! I would hate to see it crushed. They just do not come around very often anymore. It is in a lot better condition than your 71 300. If you sold me the trim from that 71, there would be at least some of the cash you need, and few people put that trim back on anyway should you get around to restoring it.
