WHAT ? Another 61 Fury restroation......

I found out recently that the TN Valley Mopar show will be at another location for next year's show as soon as I find out I will pass the 411. I was told that the Huntsville Dragway no longer want the TN valley mopar club to have their show there why I do not know.

I haven't posted here in awhile. I'm gearing up to get busy on Virgil again starting this week.

Here are a couple items I recently acquired for him. I got lucky at the Texas auction on these items.
No one I talked to remembers seeing NOS Jiffy Jet parts, let alone a complete kit. There's more to it than what's pictured. There's a bracket for a glass jar and also a foot pump. I'll have to figure out what my needs are.

Also acquired these. A matched set of 5 original Motor wheel spoked wheels. 15x5 1/2, 4 1/2 pattern 48 spokes. Factory optional on 55/56/57 Mopars and over the counter until 1961. So they are correct on 61 Plymouths. Came with 4 center caps.
I plan to have the wheels blasted and either powder coat or paint them a bright argent, (They were available that way), and rechrome the center caps.
I spent a lot of effort finding a date match set of 14" steel wheels, prepping and refinishing them then finding a set of 8.00x14 2 1/2" wide whites, which are on the car now. Now I need a set of 15" wide whites for these wheels. Not looking inexpensive at this point.....

Something about that Jiffy-Jet stuff fascinates me. I think it's just rare enough to see it and then to see it in good shape.... It's so much cooler than the GM glass bottles.

I bought a new Jiffy Jet kit many years ago for my '67 D100. That had to be 1982 or so.

My prior '61 fury had the washer kit also. My dad was not sure if it worked and I said there is only 1 way to find out. I took the bag off the car cleaned out the inside to get the crud out then put windshield washer cleaner in it and it worked.

I drove up to the shop where Virgil is but wasen't able to get much done. Mark, the owner was buried in work and family issues so I grabbed the radiator and a picture or two and headed home.
I dropped the radiator at a old school rad shop near me with a ole guy who said he will make a (as original) core. I also took the door vent window frames to send to the plater. Last of the chrome to get done.
I'll wait until things settle down to get back. Still targeting the final body work and primer by the end of the year. Paint will be pushed back to Spring.

My gawd, how you find this stuff???
No. No need to reply. I already know the answer.
:thumbsup::thumbsup:

The Jiffy Jet and wheels were the result of the auction in Texas. I still can't believe my luck acquiring these items. I dreamed about how Virgil would look with a set of Motor wheel spokes wheels.

Does this mean you’ll be selling the Polar to fund Virgil??:poke:

I missed the sale of your 300 convertible, wife reasons. Lol

Yes John. The Polara will be sacrificed to fund the completion of Virgil. That was kind of my plan all along.
The Polara is one hell of a road car, a pleasure to drive. Can't keep them both, (well....maybe could). But Virgil is my priority.
I haven't pushed selling it much. Haven't advertised it. A fellow from Orange beach saw it at a local show a couple weeks ago and got excited about it. Haven't heard from him. You know how that goes.....

I understand priorities sir. Going for a ride in her while we’re down in July was my plan, but the trip had other plans for me. If she still around July 4th week of next year we may have some to talk about. Either way, when or if you decide, if I could ask for a PM with your thoughts and a number, I would appreciate it.

The radiator is back from the shop with a new 3 row core. Hard to find a craftsman who will take the time to get it right. Expensive.... but worth it.
It's not painted because I asked them not to. I'll put the final finish on it myself.

Update on Virgil's interior panels from SMS. Three years in the making, but exquisite

Virgil's panels arrived today, but not without one final hitch. I informed Kim at SMS of my address change last March. That info was included with every email since then, (a lot!)
What does she do....? Sends them to my old address! I discovered that on a UPS shipping notice. They were able to redirect them and they arrived, safe and sound, today.
You can imagine the mixed emotions while unpackaging. Are they correct? Are they damaged?
Well, they did good. They are spot on and beautiful. Not sure about the three year wait but that's behind me now and all's well.

Very nice. I do take issue with the interior though. It has the late production all vinal option. The stitching is done correctly but the seats should be all white to be correct, not green and white.
The hose clamps and lack of wide whitewall's distract too.

Just the ramblin's of an old purest. This really is an amazing car.
