What are you working on today??

Didn't AMC stick a cherokee under a car body?
AMC Eagle was a 4WD car. It probably had some generic 4WD drivetrain from the Cherokee. AMC Eagle - Wikipedia

They were kinda neat cars, I knew a couple people that had them and really liked them. I think they rusted pretty bad though.

The Cherokee was a unibody.

I have some friends who're turbo Eagle fanboys. The Eagle was basically a parts bin car that used the jeep's suspension grafted onto the AMC matador, itself a barely disguised AMC hornet from the 60's.

It's kind of amazing how much AMC was able to do with what they had. Would be cool to un-80's an eagle and turn into a crossover/SUV thing from the 60's.

Taking advantage of the gorgeous weather and knocking out a few little things on my '67 VIP for a YouTube video. Stuff may flow into tomorrow since I want to refinish the armrest bases somehow and most likely won't have the time for that before a car show this evening.

Time to replace my zipper in my gazebo mosquito net. I don’t think it was designed for 20 zips per day.

There's one of those 80's Eagle wagons for sale near me. Thought about getting a closer look. Looks like it has either a huge dent or terrible paint mismatch on the hatch.

Hopped in the '66 Monaco last night to go to Cruisin' Grand in Escondido and it wouldn't crank.
New battery today and everything is back to normal.
I got 10 years out of the old one, can't complain!

They're cool cars and easy to fix. Novelty factor can't be beat. But you really gotta love them.

Now that we have SUV's/crossovers everywhere, the wagons look kinda natural. But there's also a sedan and coupe version that looks like a mud bogger's jalopy.

got the motor unstuck in the concord using a crank pulley plate a friend fabbed up.

Replaced the steering bearing in my 04 2500hd. These old GMT800 trucks are some of the most dependable trucks out there, but like everything there's that one part that makes you wonder why. On these trucks it's the plastic steering column bearing that just doesn't last, it makes the truck feel like something is loose in the front end. This time I replaced it with a Wolff Engineering bearing, it's aluminum and has needle bearings instead of ball bearings.
This new bearing is even quieter then a new OEM plastic bearing and the steering feels tighter. Definitely worth the extra money. It'll be cheaper in the long run cause this is the last time I'll have to replace it.

I made a house call to get an old restoration project restarted. Timing and fuel sorted and it is alive and ready to continue its journey to completion.

New plugs & plug wires for the '65. Only managed to get 3 of the plug wires wrong at the distributor. Once that got sorted out, it definitely idles smoother. Did a compression test and #5 is a little low, but it's running well enough to ignore this year.
