What are you working on today??

Installed the front bumper, grille, lights, hardware and wiring behind it, etc. The grille, parking lights, and light bulbs are NOS. The bumper is an NOS blemish. It has some scuffs and scratches, but never mounted. The headlights were RockAuto Wholesaler closeouts, NAPA box, Wagner lights. The headlight trim is mint used. the parking light housings are reconditioned.

The bumper with its internal reinforcement/mount weighs 82 pounds. Without the bumper guards which I left off; they are about 3-4 pounds more. The bumper shocks/frame_mounts are separate and even more weight.

Starting to get ready for the 10,000 Lakes Concourse. While doing half assed cosmetics to the interior, found out something interesting. Not all of the covered trim is plastic. The panels above the doors look to be aluminum? Shines up so nice, so no paint for them.

For the last few days, I have been working on our F350. It’s getting new turbo to pedestal and block orings, new up pipes, new exhaust manifolds (due to rusty mounting bolts), new wastegate control, coolant filter, egt probe (existing one broke off in removal attempt), new power steering pump, new air conditioning compressor and receiver/drier and expansion valve (it’s not called that but I can’t remember the name).

I had to cut the exhaust manifold bolts and seriously cut the rear part of the driver’s side manifold to cut the bolts off.

The passenger side bolt remnants were easily removed with a tool.

I should be done in early October as life happens.

After a lot of cut off wheel work, I was able to finally get to the rear most exhaust manifold bolts. I then cut the remaining bolts with the sawzall.
I didn’t feel comfortable in using a torch.

I then extracted the portion of the bolts in the cylinder head.

Every exhaust manifold bolt was corroded solid to the manifolds.

I went through about 6 cutoff wheels and 6-8 sawzall blades.

But, it’s done and now time to clean things up, chase the threads in the cylinder heads and start reassembling!

Installing new belt weatherstrips and door channel, cleaning and lubricating latches, lubricating the window regulators, tracks, etc. and reinstalling glass.

Continuing to clean up the bits and pieces for the truck. I had to make a patch piece for one of the fasteners that holds the fender liner in the passenger side.

I dislike cleaning very much.

Finishing up some trim work and a quick wash then some vanity photos. It's not a C-body, but other than my R-body Newport (which is longer and looks bigger, but is actually lighter), it's the closest I have.

I finally got the passenger side exhaust manifold installed with the copper anti sieze compound and new Ford bolts.

I had to make a new captive bolt for the vacuum canister as one of the studs broke off in removal.

I went and hooked a remote switch to my passenger side window, either up or down i can here motor click but does not move. Time to take out motor and check it. I did verify it has 12 volts to center lead of switch when cars running.

Changed the crankshaft position sensor in my eco-shitbox Mazda 3. Very easy process seeing as half the plastics under the car are missing or destroyed.

Then I swapped my winter wheels onto the truck. Its not that time yet, but I won't have time at the end of October so I'm taking advantage of my current free time.

Both are getting undercoated next week as well.

That reminds me of a new york state trooper car from back in the day! I like it.

Oh yeah, I'd be proud to own the car, what's your thoughts on a thin white stripe up on the top body line, the length of the car. break-up the solid look? just me.

went with a buddy to pick up a 300D, pretty solid complete car. came with alot of spare parts inc bumpers.
it will be made into a safe driver but not get restored. rear 1/4 rust will be repaired.
its had 59 chrysler roof trim added, that will stay on.
last on the road in 1967, been in dry storage for decades

(he also has a white 300D but its rougher than this).

My '70 300 had a Thermoquad carb installed by the PO years ago. It ran great, like some T-Qs do, but it was time for a rebuild. I decided a while back that I would swap to an Eldelbrock AVS when that time came. Timing being everything... I bought a nice one from @James Romano a couple weeks ago. A little clean up and a T-Q adapter flipped over on the T-Q manifold, I gave it a try before swapping manifolds. It ran great, so I dug out the proper manifold I'd been saving and did a swap.

Worthy of note is that cast iron must get heavier as it ages. It seemed a lot heavier to hoist it over the fender than it used to.
