What are you working on today??

I finally purchased a 10000 watt generator, uncrated assembled what needed assembling. Added oil, gas, hooked up the battery and fired up on the first crank! Now Im ready for texas fall storms and power outages! Next project is a storm shelter and the wife and I will be ready!

We have a 24 kW Generac - it’s earning its keep. It was the largest air cooled unit we could get at the time.

"Rebuilt" the driver door on my 77 NYB: New outside cat whisker, new lower seal, put a felt washer under the top panel where the lock knob goes through (to stop it from rattling), drilled out the inner door handle mounting rivets (which were loose) and replaced them with bolts, adjusted the lock solenoid for better actuation. Took a couple hours but now it gives the nice "vault" thunk when closing.

1 down, 3 to go...

Spatchcock’d a chicken on the Primo grill/smoker/roaster - kamado grill. I used coffee wood chunks in with the lump charcoal and seasoned the chicken with a little bit of butt rub and Mrs. Dash. My wife made some sweet potato fries. Yum!

And we’re getting ready for another trip…

My '70 300 had a Thermoquad carb installed by the PO years ago. It ran great, like some T-Qs do, but it was time for a rebuild. I decided a while back that I would swap to an Eldelbrock AVS when that time came. Timing being everything... I bought a nice one from @James Romano a couple weeks ago. A little clean up and a T-Q adapter flipped over on the T-Q manifold, I gave it a try before swapping manifolds. It ran great, so I dug out the proper manifold I'd been saving and did a swap.

Worthy of note is that cast iron must get heavier as it ages. It seemed a lot heavier to hoist it over the fender than it used to.
Awesome!! I'm very happy that it worked for you! That's some linkage setup! Good luck and many miles ahead for you!

I know of a good home for Thermoquad.

Hope you made enough everybody!! That looks Great!

Finishing up some trim work and a quick wash then some vanity photos. It's not a C-body, but other than my R-body Newport (which is longer and looks bigger, but is actually lighter), it's the closest I have.

No one will hold it's not being a C body against you. Damn Nice car!

For the last few days, I have been working on our F350. It’s getting new turbo to pedestal and block orings, new up pipes, new exhaust manifolds (due to rusty mounting bolts), new wastegate control, coolant filter, egt probe (existing one broke off in removal attempt), new power steering pump, new air conditioning compressor and receiver/drier and expansion valve (it’s not called that but I can’t remember the name).

I had to cut the exhaust manifold bolts and seriously cut the rear part of the driver’s side manifold to cut the bolts off.

The passenger side bolt remnants were easily removed with a tool.

I should be done in early October as life happens.

Then the batteries died in my truck. While I was driving my in Mazda to get the new batteries its apears a rear brake pad separated in it.
They say it comes in three's, so I hope this is it for a while...

Thanks! It’s for the wife and I. It is tasty and we’re eating the rest of it tonight. Maybe it’ll be a topping for a cauliflower crust veggie pizza (my wife is terribly sensitive to gluten and the Milton’s brand cauliflower crust veggie pizzas cooked using a Pizza Pizazz is very good) tonight.

I got some of the filings, or rust, or dirt or? In my left eye and it was irritated and red for a week. It’s better now, but next time, I’ll use a face shield. My wife was very pissed that I messed up my eye, but she’s glad that I recovered and that the work is proceeding.

There's a 68 something or other hiding in the background there... How about a better picture of it.

I'd fix that one myself... The tire shops are going to want to sell you a tire. Buy a tire patch kit and there's probably videos on YouTube if you need to know how.

And yes, it does come in threes.

Just finished swapping in new front wheel bearings in my 300L. We heard a little noise coming from the right front the other day on our way home from a local show.

The PO had a self described "restoration" shop do some work and so far, I've had to redo everything they touched. I think this was their handiwork....

The bearing grease was about the consistency of peanut butter and it was packed in around the spindle so much it was oozing out the seal. The outer wheel bearing was scrubbing the washer and you could catch your fingernail on the groove worn in the race. Nut retainers were bent up and the caps are all beat up with one even touching and wearing against the end of the spindle.

I changed all bearings on both sides and all had some wear pattern in the races. New washers, nuts and the nut retainer. I don't know what the grease is, but I had a hard time cleaning it all out. New NOS caps are on the way, but a few minutes with a hammer and drift made them usable for the moment.

getting on to the fuel system in the 81 concord that sat since 1989.
drain, pull the tank & inspect it and clean the fuel line. seems like its good but we shall see.
the stuck motor is unstuck now, gotta start rebuilding the carb.
and gotta deal with the oil drain plug that just turns.............

the 81 imperial wheels might not work, they come really close to the wheel opening when turning the wheel,
thats something to deal with later

Looks like tar! I just went through that on my 68 last month. I used red high heat bearing grease on mine. Bearings, races and seals. That eliminated a rubbing sound I had on front of mine also.
